Job Title: Dispatcher / Vehicle Storage Facility Employee

Employment Type: Part Time (>30 hrs.) & Seasonal (12 weeks)

Job Location: A&A Wrecker and Recovery – In Person, Customer Facing

Salary Range: $16 hr. -$18 hr (Plus incentive pay of 3% commission of Consent Tow Sales)

Position Summary

The Dispatcher / Vehicle Storage Facility Employee position is a dual role, customer-facing position. As a VSF (Vehicle Storage Facility) Employee, the team member helps vehicle owners with vehicle pick-up of impounded and stored vehicles at our licensed Vehicle Storage facilities. VSF Employees process vehicles accepted for storage, report vehicles to law enforcement agencies, interact with vehicle owners or representatives, collect and verify vehicle ownership documentation, collect and process payment, relay accurate information regarding the vehicle pick-up process and related fees, answer questions, provide vehicle owners with processes needed to meet their needs, and control our gated entry push-point system to allow vehicle owners and/or representatives access to the gated areas to claim their vehicle.

In the role of a Dispatcher, the team member responds to tow service requests from clients and customers, prioritizes the service requests, and assigns the service requests to tow truck operators. Requests are sent by phone or through online towing software. Requests come from the motoring public, law enforcement agencies, multifamily clients, multifamily family residents, private business owners, commercial property owners, insurance companies, the sales and account management teams, and the owners of the company. Tow requests are sent to the tow operators using cloud-based towing software and communication platforms.

Objectives:

  • Facilitate the release of impounded vehicles by collecting and verifying vehicle ownership documentation.
  • Accurately handle cash, credit card and check transactions.
  • Efficiently use a point-of-sale system, including sending payment links to customers.
  • Effectively use an electronic safe to deposit cash and check payments.
  • Document and process payment during vehicle pick-up
  • Operate gate-controls, allow vehicle owners or representatives access to their vehicle
  • Aid with customer concerns
  • Answer calls and relay correct information to vehicle owners of charges and vehicle pick-up process
  • Schedule vehicle pick-up
  • Receive, inventory, and process vehicles delivered to the Vehicle Storage Facility
  • Use telephones, message boards and software to collect and relay messages for employees, upper-level management, and owners
  • Receive, quote and collect payment for service requests
  • Prioritize service requests and dispatch to tow truck operators
  • Provide correct information to tow truck operators
  • Maintain office cleanliness and restocking
  • Other duties as assigned

Competencies:

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening and random screenings

  • Maintain an active TDLR VSF Employee license.
  • Spanish-language (Required)

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidate must be able to stand for extended periods of time throughout the shift.
  • The candidate must be able to navigate unlevel outdoor terrain, steps, moving from indoor to outdoor spaces.
  • The candidate must be able to work during and in all Texas weather conditions.
  • The candidate must be able to service customers through a service window.
  • The candidate must be able to lift to 50 pounds.
  • The candidate must have reliable transportation to travel between the Austin offices during their shift.
