Job description
The OTR Logistics Planner position manages the logistics and planning of shipments while ensuring the efficient use of the company assets along with maintaining superior service to the customers and shippers. This position is responsible for the day-to-day effective coordination of customer freight planned out across the company fleet of trucks and trailers. The planner will balance and assign the equipment available with customer needs, request additional shipments, create daily plans and back up plans as needed. This position will work with customers creating new shipments and communicate status updates to customers and shippers. This position will focus on efficient use of the company assets to move shipments using various metrics while maintaining top tier customer service levels.
Roles, Responsibilities & Skills Needed
- Create daily plans for customer shipments
- Communicate daily with and provide superior customer service to internal & external customers
- Communicate with customers and internal account managers for additional business
- Make plans including alternate plans as needed
- Act as an escalation point for various issues that may arise
- Become proficient with the TMS to navigate and use the system efficiently along with customer systems as needed
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to multi-task between multiple planning projects
- Understand DOT regulations and hours of service rules and ability to incorporate the rules
- Support a culture of “can do” attitude to enhance team efforts toward customer service and efficiency
Minimum Requirements
- Associate degree - Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Understanding of trucking/logistics transportation operations
- 2 years of OTR trucking/transportation operations experience
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Expert proficiency with Microsoft products, software systems and internet navigation
- Ability to multi-task to meet deadlines and personal as well as company goals
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to track communications across a multi-task environment
- After-hours availability for on-call and/or as issues/needs arise

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
