Who We Are
The Walt Disney Company recently unified its advertising sales business to deliver a consultative and insights-driven approach to its clients. We are responsible for advertising revenue across a vast portfolio of best-in-class content including ABC, Disney Channels Worldwide, Disney Digital Network, ESPN Networks, ESPN+, Freeform, FX Networks, Hulu and National Geographic Networks.
Our Addressable Sales teams are responsible for both sales and managing key client relationships These Addressable Sales teams work directly with clients and agency strategy groups to pitch new opportunities, drive incremental revenue on existing business, present tentpole opportunities and sell new and existing ad-products and platforms.
A Day in the Life
The Addressable Sales Intern will support their respective teams in a variety of different ways. This will include supporting our account executives with cold calls and prospecting for new business. Interns will utilize a variety of reporting tools that will be made available. The inter will be responsible for tracking competitive spending across the media landscape and identifying areas of opportunity for the account executives to generate sales leads.
The Addressable Sales Intern will perform marketplace analysis by assessing client earnings, economic forecasts, trade publications, social media (e.g. LinkedIn). Interns will work with the account executives and management to assemble Executive Summaries prior to client meetings that will include client biographies, historical spending on Disney as well as competitor spending.
Interns will be asked to provide their POV on industry trends and are expected to stay current on all things relating to our business. As well as, assist in the development of client proposals and monitor client performance as needed by the account executives and sales management. They will help in the development of category-specific expertise derived from the trade press, investor reports, company websites/social handles, as well as applicable conferences and events. Lastly, they will aid in ad hoc projects and assist in overall group coordination.
What we are looking for...
- Basic understanding of media, e.g., linear, sponsorship, addressable, social, streaming and the ecosystem of Direct-To-Consumer
- Basic knowledge of marketing principles, media history and advertising as well as Disney Advertising Sales specifically
- Ability to present ideas and sales data points to teams
- A strong desire to operate in a fast paced and dynamic environment with deadlines
- Detail-oriented self-starter with outstanding interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Exceptional attention to detail with ability to synthesize and process large amounts of information and data
- Appetite for working alongside and collaborating with a variety of sales team members
- Strong project management skills with demonstrated experience planning, prioritizing and executing on multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficient with the Microsoft office suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation of media/marketing information
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity and experience with Media and its metrics, either through course work or prior internships, and the tools/data sources frequently used
Required Education
- Currently enrolled as a junior or higher or must have graduated within the past 6 months from an accredited college/university, earning a degree in Marketing, Advertising, Sales, or related
The pay rate for this internship in New York, NY is $21.20 per hour.
Internship Eligibility
- At the time of application, must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney Professional Internship
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program, concurrent to this internship
- Must possess unrestricted work authorization
Program Dates: The length of this internship is 10-12 weeks, and approximate dates are May/June - August/September 2023. Interns will work ~40 hours per week and need to provide full availability throughout the internship.
Housing & Transportation: This internship will be located in New York, NY and interns must be able to provide their own housing and reliable transportation to and from work.
