Discovery Response Quality Analyst, Home Lending

The Quality Associate supports the Discovery Response Team and Home Lending Loss Recovery team in legal review and quality control of documents used in foreclosure, title, bankruptcy, and other Home Lending litigation. The Quality Associate will be responsible for ensuring the documents, including sworn documents and other signed documents, Discovery Responses, settlement agreements, and proofs of claim are in compliance with Chase policies and procedures and are supported by business records. In this role, the Quality Associate works closely with colleagues across lines of business and legal counsel to identify legal issues, escalate issues needing attention, assess accuracy of information, as well as responsiveness to discovery requests. The role requires attention to detail, the ability to conduct legal research and extensive loan account research, and the ability to redline and revise documents with accuracy and precision.

Responsibilities include:

• Interpret and apply Sworn Document and Chase policies and procedures
• Proofread and redline documents during legal review while identifying issues needing factual and legal support
• Question and investigate the reliability and relevance of data and supporting documents
• Ensure facts underlying legal arguments and positions are supported with business records and admissible evidence
• Perform quality control review of executed documents following Chase policies and procedures, documenting and presenting formal results and findings, and tracking and monitoring corrections to identified defects
• Communicate issues and findings effectively with stakeholders
• Perform root cause analysis, identifying key issues, risks, and trends and providing recommendations for addressing identified issues

Qualifications:

• JD or equivalent legal degree
• 3+ years litigation experience, including familiarity with litigation process, discovery, redaction, and sworn statements
• 1+ years subject matter experience in foreclosure, title, bankruptcy or related fields
• Previous experience in a mortgage or default servicing environment is helpful
• Experience adhering to controls and compliance standards
• Strong research and analytical skills
• Confidence and ability to make expeditious decisions
• Excellent document reviewing and proofreading skills
• Detail orientated and well organized, with ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Team worker with good interpersonal skills and collegial attitude
