Summary:
- The Director Total Rewards is responsible for the design, implementation, and communication of company’s Total Rewards strategy.
- Ensures that all our reward programs are competitive, sustainable, scalable, and have a positive impact on the short- and long-term performance of the organization.
- Works collaboratively with both the business and HR to develop and deliver well-considered compensation and benefits solutions and processes with innovative technology solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, communicate, administer and continuously evaluate and improve competitive Total Rewards strategies, that are aligned with company’s vision and strategy, cost effective and consistent with market trends.
- Partner with labor relations to educate and negotiate with unions on benefit offerings, market rates and job responsibilities.
- Oversee the design and administration of compensation programs including base pay, merit, compensation planning, and market analysis and an internally administered benefits program, including leaves of absence, active and retiree health and welfare benefits.
- Partner with Senior Executives and Finance team during the budgeting process and throughout the year regarding compensation, benefit and retirement costs.
- Provides consultative advice to managers and HR Business Partners on Total Rewards strategy and policy interpretation.
- Develop, coach, mentor and manage a team of Total Rewards professionals.
- Drive analytical rigor and deep analysis on effectiveness and competitiveness of existing programs with effective vendor and team management; establish and drive key metrics including usage, engagement, and cost analyses.
- Leverage technology and partner with HR colleagues to develop the technical systems, automated business processes and workflows that support Total Rewards program delivery.

- Leadership skills balanced with a willingness to collaborate and play a 'hands-on' role with key projects, ability to take initiative and anticipate customer needs and issues.
- Proven ability to track, prioritize and drive to success multiple concurrent projects; demonstrated expertise as an executor, with strong operational background and subject matter expert.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations, as well as legislation and trends that impact benefits and compensation
- Effectively cope with change, act without having the total picture and manage risk.
- Analytical, ability to evaluate complex data and make recommendations.
- Knowledge of HRIS systems, SAP / SuccessFactors working knowledge preferred.
Education, Experience and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
- 10 years progressively responsible experience in Human Resources with at least 5 years of experience in designing Total Rewards programs
- 5 years of people management experience required
- Experience in a union environment preferred
- Experience in the utility industry or similar engineering/technical environment preferred
- Experience selecting and managing external vendor relationships
- CCP, CBP, or CEBS preferred
