About this opportunity
This position is responsible for ensuring the accurate recording of all revenue transactions related to products, services and promotions in accordance with US GAAP. This person will have an extensive US GAAP Technical Revenue Accounting background in a multi-element environment and have a proven ability to foster proactive working relationships with cross-functional and global organizations.
The Director of Technical Revenue Accounting will provide leadership of the implementation of Revenue Accounting policies and procedures on a global basis.
In this role, you will...

• Ownership of worldwide revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP
• Ensure Revenue Accounting policies are documented and applied consistently on a worldwide basis
• Revenue Accounting contact for Sales, Marketing, Commercial Finance, FP&A and other teams to provide Revenue Accounting guidance and inputs for financial modeling
• Assess new customer contracts, product offerings, and discount for programs for revenue recognition requirements
• Directly manage technical accounting team
• Manage Stand-alone Selling Price, Distinct Assessment, Volume Discounts, and other annual assessments
• Develop and implement revenue training for Revenue team and other internal teams
• Responsible for financial statement disclosures related to deferred revenue and revenue
• Responsible quarterly and annual Revenue Accounting memos
• Support quarterly earnings process including coordination with SEC Reporting and Investor Relations
• Lead and manage SOX compliance for Revenue team
• Key contact with internal and external auditors to review Revenue Accounting assessments and to manage quarterly and annual audits
• Research and advise on changes in accounting guidance and the application to Align
• Support road map projects
• Support other projects as needed

In this role, you'll need ...

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 10+ years of progressive experience - preferably a mix of Big 4 accounting firm experience (preferably at the Manager level) and public companies with multiple, complex revenue streams in a high-growth environment; multi-national experience
• Licensed CPA (active preferred)
• Experience and in-depth knowledge of Revenue Accounting related to multiple-element arrangements, promotions, and volume discounts under ASC 606

• Proven ability for technical accounting research and documentation of positions
• Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills as well as ability to effectively use accounting knowledge to collaborate, guide and interact professionally with a wide range of personnel at various levels within the organization to drive sound business decisions
• Exceptional organizational skills, project management experience to include management of large-scale/global initiatives
• Experience building and developing staff
• Experience with larger ERP systems (SAP) and related data across a global business
• Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
