Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Data Product to lead the development of data-driven software solutions in the Technology group of the Advanced Data Science and Learning (ADSL) department in Takeda R&Ds Data Science Institute.

In ADSLs Technology group, we build solutions to improve decision making using multitude of structured and structured data and a variety of algorithms including machine learned models packaged appropriately according the user needs including interactive visualization, API services and dynamically rendered interfaces.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data science, software engineering, and product management and will be tasked with harnessing the power of data to accelerate the drug discovery and development processes including decision making and operational efficiency. Extensive experience working in Pharma or Biotech is optional. A strong curiosity for a deeper understanding of human health and disease to deliver innovative medicine for patient is a must.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

In this role, you'll

  • Lead the strategic planning, development, and deployment of Data Products within the R&D environment.
  • Manage cross-functional teams including data scientists, engineers, and product managers to create robust, scalable data solutions.
  • Drive the integration of data analytics and machine learning models into the software products to support research and development efforts.
  • Collaborate with research scientists, IT, regulatory affairs, and other stakeholders to ensure Data Products meet the rigorous standards of the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Oversee the product lifecycle from concept to deployment, including requirements definition, prototyping, development, testing, and rollout.
  • Overseeing the underlying tech stack that drives the capabilities and continue to mature the composition of capabilities that work together to deliver cohesive solutions for data
  • Establish and monitor analytics to measure the effectiveness of Data Products and inform ongoing development priorities.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in data engineering, machine learning, and AI to keep the division at the forefront of innovation in pharmaceutical R&D.
  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous learning within the division.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant data privacy and protection regulations.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field; Master's or PhD preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a data-focused role with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
  • Proven track record of developing and deploying successful Data Products, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles and modern data architecture.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, machine learning, and computational modeling as they apply to pharmaceutical research.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and data governance in a healthcare or pharmaceutical context.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion in a timely and efficient manner.
  • An enthusiasm to ask questions and try and learn new things is essential
  • Entrepreneurial experience is desirable.
  • Experience in life sciences and healthcare and experience in a complex global organization is a plus

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS) and their data-related services.
  • Familiarity with the drug development process and the specific data needs at each stage.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.

Base Salary Range: $198,000.00 to $283,000.00. Employees may also be eligible for Short Term and Long-Term Incentive benefits. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program and Paid Volunteer Time Off.

The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
