How you’ll contribute:
As the Director of Reinsurance Administration, you’ll be responsible for overseeing Brighthouse Financial’s Life and Annuities ceded Reinsurance Administration. This includes review and approval of weekly and monthly settlement statements, premiums and claims calculations, reconciliations and reporting, and managing reinsurer relationships. Also, responding to ad hoc requests, and advising on system projects. Focus is on YRT and Quota Share arrangements. We are looking for candidates that have a great interest in administering complex reinsurance contracts, and a strong understanding of Life and Annuity insurance and reinsurance business and products.
In this role, you’ll get to:
Lead a team of reinsurance analysts in fulfilling the administration requirements of the company’s ceded reinsurance portfolio
Subject matter expert for insurance/reinsurance Life and Annuity contracts
Interpretation and implementation of new treaty Reinsurance Administration in compliance with reinsurance contracts
Ownership of Reinsurance Administration systems and data
Collaborate with the various departments, not limited to client services, product development, administration, Finance, Legal, IT and actuarial
Lead various reinsurance/corporate initiatives including the upgrade of reinsurance systems, applicable system conversions and process improvement initiatives
Supervisory Responsibilities:
People management responsibilities, including reinsurance finance professionals performing daily work, reviews, training and guidance to staff as needed
We’re looking for people who have:
BS/BA in Business Administration or Accounting
10 or more years experience in administration and/or financial accounting and reporting
Strong Life/Annuity insurance/reinsurance experience
Keen interest in the interpretation and application of reinsurance contracts and administration
Experience leading critical initiatives, including project development, identifying needed resources and key milestones, and effectively monitoring progress to conclusion
Ability to handle multiple tasks and tight deadlines
Independent thinking and creative problem solving skills
Strong leadership skills and ability to effectively communicate conclusions
Ability to obtain support from various teams without direct authority
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently
Highly proficient in Excel
Preferred Competencies, Qualifications and Skills:
Knowledge of statutory accounting & reporting
Completion of, or working towards CPA, MBA or CMA highly desired
Working knowledge of SAP General Ledger
