The Function of Beauty Quality and Safety Team is responsible for the quality and safety of products for all brands. The Quality Team supports a key strategic goal of the company - to continue to provide high-quality products to customers and retailers all over the world. In addition, the team is responsible for commercialization of all products.
The Director of Quality Assurance and Safety will lead the process and product quality disciplines for all Function of Beauty brands. You will play a key role in leading and continuing to build the Quality function at Function of Beauty. You will be responsible for product and supplier quality, and commercialization (industrialization).
Functions and ResponsibilitiesEstablish the end-to-end business processes that assure product consistency and effectiveness delivered through the entire supply chain (suppliers, vertically integrated manufacturing, third party manufacturing, and distribution).
Implement Key Quality Metrics to drive process improvements and ensure delivery on time.
Lead the organization in the implementation of the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulatory Act (MoCRA) to ensure compliance and continued business success.
Manage all Third Party Manufacturers (3PM's) to ensure compliance to Function of Beauty Quality Standards.
Develop a Quality Management System (QMS) for the end-to-end operations to ensure compliance to MoCRA and ISO22716 standards.
Leads the Corrective Action / Preventative Action (CAPA) process to eliminate recurring issues and deliver sound Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
Lead the Function of Beauty Document Control System and Change Control systems.
Contribute to the enhancement of the image of our finished goods through continuous improvement approaches from ideation through delivery to the end consumer.
Lead bulk scale up with process development manager, QA managers, R&D, manufacturing and NPD.
Support packaging development with Package Concept Development (PCD) managers, QA managers, production team and New Product Development (NPD).
Assure the availability of on time, Right First Time (RFT) at the right cost in the development and fulfillment of finished goods. This includes establishing capable processes (pilot through industrialization).
Lead major packaging / formula simplification projects and contribute/lead value analysis projects.
Own product quality function for all brands, including product and supplier quality, product evaluation, qualification of NPD and sustaining operations (product life-cycle) initiatives.
Strategically build the Quality function, identifying gaps and owning improvements to the organization, processes, and suppliers.
Work cross-functionally (primarily with the broader Production, Supply Chain, Product Development and Engineering teams) to define and execute supplier quality management and development strategies, with the goal of reducing variation (and cost) in sourced and manufactured products.
Implement quality tools such as Control Planning, Process FMEA, Manufacturing process validation, Measurement System Analysis, Statistical Process Control, Tool Qualification and Design of Experiments (DOE).
Interact with Customer Experience on consumer product inquiries and complaints
Support in diagnosing customer complaints and driving corrective actions by changing manufacturing processes, test methods, quality systems and product designs.
Work with suppliers to ensure all necessary quality activities are rigorously addressed during initial product release and on-going production.
Implement quality tools such as: process mapping, Process FMEA, process control plans, process validation (IQ, OQ, PQ), Measurement System Analysis (MSA/GR&R), Statistical Process Control (SPC); and Design of Experiments (DOE).
Support advanced product quality planning (APQP) process to ensure successful integration of new products into operations.
Proactively work with the Product Development team and suppliers to improve design for manufacturability and reduce defects and cost.
Ensure supplier test strategy aligns with quality goals requirements. Execute supplier audits, CAPA's and monitor metrics.
BS in engineering/science related discipline or demonstrated equivalent experience
10+ years of experience in liquid fill production supporting a high volume manufacturing operation.
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt / Green Belt certification.
Experience with GMPs, Mil Std 105E or ASQ Z1.4
8+ years of experience in quality, manufacturing, supplier management.
Communicates well with various cross functional groups as well as suppliers and vendors to be able to create cross-functional consensus with a senior, global team.
