Walmart is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commuter Alternatives Demand Director to establish and lead our commuter program for the Company across our US locations. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of alternate transportation planning across vanpooling, carpooling, shuttles and active transportation including bike programs, transportation policy and procedure development, demand management, and sustainable mobility practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating transportation demand management strategies to improve transportation efficiency and reduce traffic congestion. This individual will lead a growing team and reports directly to a Group Director, Programs and Strategy and is located on-site in our Bentonville, AR home office. The successful candidate will develop innovative solutions that are adaptable to evolving mobility needs. A relentless pursuit of providing an outstanding daily commute experience for our riders is essential. This role reports to the Senior Director II of Programs and Strategy.
What you'll do:
  • Define how Walmart engages associates, visitors, and the community to deliver an intentionally designed frictionless mobility experience.
  • Develop and deliver on our ambitious alternative mobility commitments
  • Collaborate closely with mobility consultant and 3P to creating opportunity in our physical designs, digital connections, and human behaviors.
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders in and outside the company to build mutually beneficial relationships around micromobility in NW AR
  • Work with cross-functional teams across the organization to promote, engage, support and report on alternate mobility efforts.
  • Build alternate commuter culture, showing lifestyle, benefits and opportunities to commute via non single occupancy vehicles.
  • Educate associates about the inherent value of reducing dependency on single occupancy vehicles
  • Identify and remove other barriers to the adoption of alternate transportation
  • Work closely with various departments to incentivize active modes of transportation
  • Support and participate in associate cycling and other transportation events
  • Research, recommend and implement programs that have resulted in increased walk/bike rates for benchmarked companies
  • Enhance new associate and intern alt. mobility orientation education
  • A relentless pursuit of providing an outstanding daily commute experience for our riders is essential
  • Manage and track all operational key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure a world class associate-oriented experience •
  • Develop and present data-driven methodology that informs executive-level decision making Develop dynamic schedule scenarios and operate an efficient commuter system
  • Evaluate all surrounding transit services which include ORT, Bikeshare UofA, Facility Shuttles and coordinate connectivity to Walmart New Campus & associate residential heat maps
  • Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to produce graphically rich maps with big data spatial analysis that visually demonstrate accessibility to existing commute options and opportunities for service expansion
  • Develop and implement transportation demand management strategies to reduce traffic congestion and improve transportation efficiency
  • Identify and evaluate transportation challenges and develop solutions to overcome them
  • Work with stakeholders to develop and implement transportation initiatives
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of transportation demand management strategies
  • Manage and oversee transportation projects and programs
  • Develop and maintain relationships with transportation partners and stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Analyze transportation data and prepare reports and presentations on transportation demand management projects and initiatives
  • Provide technical guidance and support to transportation staff
  • Create Transportation Demand program to roll-out across the United States to other Walmart Hub locations
  • Individual should be self-directed, analytical, and collaborative with a demonstrated ability to work with, and lead, cross-disciplinary teams

What you'll bring:
  • BS and/or a minimum of five years equivalent experience related to sustainability, transportation operations and/or community planning. Excellent verbal and communication skills are crucial.
  • Ability to multi-task and deal with ambiguity in a result-oriented environment
  • Deliver more than what the customer expects today and understand what they may expect tomorrow
  • A constant desire to learn, improve and make things better
  • Actively practice teamwork, working within the organization and throughout other parts of the company to achieve results
  • Demonstrate a positive and approachable demeanor
  • Bachelor's degree in transportation planning, urban planning, engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in transportation demand management or transportation planning
  • Strong knowledge of transportation demand management strategies and sustainable mobility practices - Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and partners
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Minimum Qualifications...

Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Legal, or related field and 5 years' experience in project management, compliance, operations management or related area OR 7 years' experience in project management, compliance, operations management, or related area.
4 years' experience using intermediate functionality of Microsoft Office.
4 years' experience leading cross-functional teams.
