Business Unit Overview
BlackRock Capital Markets (BCM) is a single center of excellence across public and private market sourcing for the firm and co-investment and financing for our Private Markets businesses. It is a holistic, comprehensive investment platform that provides solutions across the capital stack.
The BlackRock Capital Markets Co-investment team (BCM Co-invest) is responsible for managing the end-to-end co-investment process across BlackRock’s Private Markets investment businesses. Additionally, BCM Co-invest is responsible for developing and maintaining direct relationships with sophisticated clients and institutional clients across the globe. Since 2022, BCM Co-invest has executed $~3bn of client co-investment across Private Debt and Equity (Infrastructure, Private Equity, Real Estate).
Role Overview
BlackRock Capital Markets is seeking a Director to join the BCM Co-invest team. Based in New York, this person will be responsible for executing and managing co-investment processes across BlackRock’s Private Markets investment businesses, with a specific emphasis on Infrastructure Equity, Private Equity and Real Estate Equity. The candidate will work closely with BlackRock investment teams, client relationship managers, and sophisticated clients on managing the end-to-end co-investment process.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end co-investment process, including:
- Partnering with BlackRock investment teams on the capital formation strategy for potential investment opportunities
- Coordinating with various internal stakeholders on target co-investment partners, including Limited Partners, prospects, broader platform clients and other actionable investors
- Developing the co-investment strategy (narrative, diligence materials, timeline, outreach plan, etc.)
- Executing the co-investment process / capital raise, including managing client outreach and ongoing dialogue, co-investment structuring, and closing
- Develop and maintain relationships across a diverse spectrum of client stakeholders (sovereign wealth funds, pensions, insurers, consultants, family offices, and other asset managers and institutional investors)
- Lead and develop the broader BCM Co-investment team
- Be a role model with a mixture of managerial and deal execution responsibilities.
- Take an active role in managing talent and responsibility for career-pathing. Optimize resource management and establish best practices.
- Act as a culture carrier who creates a sense of inclusion, belonging and ownership and drives motivation.
- Involvement in internal management and investment committees
Requirements / skills
- 8+ years of relevant working experience in Capital Markets, investment banking, or private markets capital raising.
- Infrastructure or private equity experience a significant plus.
- Understanding of investment dynamics with ability to shape the co-investment narrative (investment fundamentals, key merits and risks, financial profile, etc.).
- Candidate should have a strong relationship management background from a financial institution and be able to manage complex client dynamics.
- Understanding of a broad range of asset classes, Capital Markets and capital structures.
- Ability to work effectively at all levels of an organization and build strong relationships with team members, managers, and senior executives globally.
- Strong analytical, presentation, organizational and communication skills.
For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $205,000 – $260,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
