Position Summary:

The Director, Privacy is responsible for shaping the vision, strategy, development, and implementation of Globus' Global Privacy Program. This effort includes, but is not limited to, maintaining policies and procedures, monitoring program compliance, and investing and tracking incidents and breaches in compliance with country-specific, federal, and state laws. This individual works closely with Legal, HR, and IT to foster a culture of data privacy and security and ensure that the privacy function will continuously evolve to comply with a global regulatory landscape. 

Essential Functions:

  • Serves in a leadership role in privacy compliance, working directly with the Chief Compliance Officer to establish governance for the privacy program
  • Articulates a strategic vision for a comprehensive data privacy program that will proactively support company growth that is aligned with an evolving global landscape
  • Builds a strategic and comprehensive privacy program that defines, develops, maintains, and implements policies and processes that enable consistent, effective privacy practices which minimize risk and ensure the confidentiality of protected health information (PHI), paper and/or electronic, across all media types
  • Ensures compliance with relevant data protection laws and regulations, such as HIPAA, HITECH, and GDPR
  • Ensures that the organization has and maintains appropriate privacy and confidentiality consents, authorization forms, and information notices and materials.
  • Ensures that written documentation of all processes associated with managing data privacy compliance are up-to-date, factually accurate, and organized
  • Responsible for privacy evaluation for third-party agreements
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and ongoing compliance monitoring of all business associates and business associate agreements, to ensure all privacy concerns, requirements, and responsibilities are addressed
  • Manages all required breach determination and notification processes under applicable rules and requirements
  • Establishes and administers a process for investigating and acting on privacy complaints
  • Maintains current knowledge of applicable country-specific, federal and state privacy laws
  • Serves as information privacy resource to the organization for all privacy-related issues
  • Adheres to the letter and spirit of the company Code of Conduct, the AdvaMed Code, MedTech Code, and all other company policies. Ensures Compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your role
  • Represents the company in a professional manner and uphold the highest standards of ethical business practices and socially responsible conduct in all interactions with other employees, customers, suppliers, and other third parties

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience, preferably in regulated privacy environment
  • Bachelor's, Master's or JD degree in a related discipline
  • Knowledge and experience in state and federal information privacy laws, including but not limited to HIPAA
  • Familiarity with health care relevant legislation and standards for the protection of health information and patient privacy
  • Understanding of evolving global data privacy laws and regulations and practical, balanced application of knowledge
  • Ability to plan, manage and execute multiple cross-office and cross-functional projects relating to data privacy and information governance
  • Demonstrated organization, facilitation, written and oral communication, and presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-starter
  • Advanced critical thinking and problems-solving skills
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to travel infrequently, up to 10% of the time

  • Required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Required to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Required to possess specific visons abilities, including: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and capacity to adjust focus.
