Summary:
The Pharmacy Operations Director oversees and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of Pharmacy Operations and clinical operations, and potentially the role of Pharmacist-in-Charge. Provides leadership for the line of business in the absence of the General Manager/Executive Director. The Director supervises pharmacy staff, providing direction, training, and monitoring of their performance. Develops policies, procedures and the business work plan. Oversees the development and monitoring of production levels, clinical program and performance standards. Develops and produces reports, analyzes data to support PerformSpecialty initiatives as well as related initiatives of AmeriHealth/PerformRx, and maximizes positive results in the areas of service, cost and quality. Ensures the pharmacy operates in accordance and compliance with all Federal and State pharmacy rules and regulations. Provides direct oversight to those members of the staff involved in the practice of pharmacy as defined by the Florida Board. Coordinates quarterly performance meetings and participates in financial review and investigation meetings and researches all cases related to pharmacy issues. Represents Pharmacy Operations in cross-functional meetings and projects. Prepares for, implements, and communicates new corporate initiatives and processes within the Pharmacy.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversight of MTM programs in conjunction with Manager, Clinical Programs
  • If implemented, has oversight of Pharmacist Internship or Residency Program. Develops staffing structure and budget to ensure program goals and objectives are met in order for the resident to receive fully accredited certificate of completion. Provide Preceptor Development opportunities. Obtain and maintain ASHP/AMCP joint accreditation.
  • Implement drug recall procedures. Ensure adherence to NCQA, URAC and Perform Specialty Pharmacy policies and procedures including and not limited to communication, publication, and patient and provider identification and notification.
  • Develop staffing structure and budget to ensure adherence accreditation and governing body standards, third party audit preparation and attendance, development and maintenance of Policy and Procedures.
  • Work in conjunction with the Quality Manager to monitor quality and implement performance improvement project
  • Assist in application and renewal processes for board of pharmacy licensure, state Medicaid and Medicare licensure providership(s)
  • Obtain and maintain Pharmacist licensure in domicile and non-resident states as required for pharmacy permitting
  • Collaborate with AmeriHealth and PerformRx IT Departments to ensure pharmacy computer system is operational and performing optimally
  • Collaborate with the Inventory Procurement Manger to:
    • Ensure appropriate inventory levels
    • Establish par levels and reordering criteria as necessary
    • Obtain access to Limited Distribution Drugs
  • Support the Executive Director and Quality Manager in completing contracting requests and Requests For Proposal (RFPs)
  • Support and/or delegate support of after hour patient inquiries and concerns

Education/Experience:
  • B.S. Pharm required, Pharm. D. preferred
  • R.Ph., Unrestricted licensure in the state of Florida is required
  • Minimum five (5) years of current/recent Specialty Pharmacy operations management experience required
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
