Job Summary:
The Director of Warehouse Operations is responsible for managing our inventory for approximately 30+ warehouse locations, plus vehicle inventory, with a total inventory value of over $10 million. This is a hands-on role and will provide leadership and guidance to maximize operational efficiency by researching, recommending, developing, leading, implementing and monitoring the inventory strategies and processes that support operations for optimal performance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Managing a team of Warehouse staff in our corporate location to set the model for all branch locations.
- Dotted line oversight to all warehouse managers in all locations. (~10 managers/supervisors)
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Confirm cycle counts are being processed on a quarterly basis for vehicles and on a weekly basis for warehouses.
- Manage the pulling and completion of transfers for the warehouses to technicians and installers as requested.
- Manage visibility for all inventory items identified as excess/obsolete and coordinate with sales teams to identify opportunities to sell through to end customers.
- Coordinate and manage offboarding counts and reconciliation for vehicles working with the Area Managers and market leads if needed.
- Work with inventory, warehouse, door, and scheduling teams to make sure items are ordered in a timely manner to be received to meet customer demands.
- Help with acquisitions by auditing inventories pre/post close as well as pre–Service Titan (CRM) uploading.
- Implement a mindset of continuous improvement. Create / review SOPs to streamline the inventory processes where needed.
- Set up weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual count calendars for warehouses and vehicles. Responsible for leading annual inventory count in compliance with outside auditor requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Preferred prior knowledge of garage door parts or the home service industry.
- Proven track record of implementing best in class operating practices including standard operating procedures.
- Knowledge of inventory practices for inventory turns consumptions, processes, and cycle counting. Setting mins and maxs for items based on lead time, criticality, and consumption.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal with all levels of the organization.
- Proficient in computer skills to be able to learn and use the current CRM system which is ServiceTitan.
- Excellent computer skills in the Microsoft Suite of software, (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Possible travel up to15-25% for inventory counts and onboarding acquired companies.
- Prior experience working with teams and building teams with multiple disciplines to achieve common goals as they pertain to inventory.
Education and Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ experience managing multiple location inventory sites.
- Experience in Lean Six Sigma
- Continuous improvement project management
- Bachelor’s degree in an area of relevant studies such as Industrial Technology, Logistics, Business, preferred.
- Valid Driver License required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
