Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine, a national research, education, and clinical care leader, is announcing the search for a Director of theIndiana Center for Musculoskeletal Health (ICMH). This is an extraordinary opportunity for a visionary leader to extend the impact of the ICMH in the discovery and development of new treatments, cures, preventative strategies, diagnostic tools, and new technologies to address the increasing burden of bone, muscle, and cartilage disorders amongst persons of all ages.
The Indiana Center for Musculoskeletal Health (ICMH) was established in 2017 to address the severe need to prevent and treat musculoskeletal disease. The ICMH’s mission is to harness the exceptional scientific talent of its members toward the discovery and development of new treatments, cures, preventative strategies, diagnostic tools, and technologies to address the increasing burden of bone, muscle, mineral, and cartilage disorders among persons of all ages. To address the complex nature of Musculoskeletal Health, the ICMH has developed several key thematic research teams, namely 1) Trauma, Regeneration, Rehabilitation, 2) Mechanobiology and Muscle-Bone Crosstalk, 3) Musculoskeletal Cancer, 4) Lifestyle Modifications: Exercise and Nutrition, and 5) Musculoskeletal Medicine: Adults and Pediatrics. The center includes outstanding, internationally known researchers in basic, translational, and clinical musculoskeletal research. There are currently 117 faculty members from three different institutions, including Indiana University (102), Purdue University (13), and Marian University (2). The ICMH supports two clinical cores and six basic/translational cores.
IU School of Medicine is the largest medical school in the country, with more than 25,000 alumni and 3,000 learners on nine campuses across the state. Its diverse faculty comprises 3,095 full-time members and 3,783 volunteer faculty responsible for training medical, graduate, and postgraduate students. IU School of Medicine is the only allopathic medical school in Indiana.
