In this new position, the Director of Teaching and Learning will have significant opportunities to design and implement new approaches to strengthen Teaching and Learning in our schools and drive continuous academic improvement by developing, implementing, and overseeing educational strategies, programs, and professional development that promote effective Teaching and enhance the learning experience for students to achieve system-wide academic goals. This professional will increase educator understanding of Catholic school mission, OCS root beliefs, instructional practices related to the system-wide goals, and data-driven instruction. The Director of Teaching and Learning will work closely with the Director of Leadership Formation, the Academic Leadership Coaches, and members of the School Support team to identify and implement effective, evidence-based strategies based on sound educational research to enhance the quality of instruction and Learning aligned to adopted learning standards. The Director of Teaching and Learning actively supports, demonstrates, and models a passion for the Catholic school mission, education, and leadership.
Responsibilities listed are not limited to other duties assigned:
Design, implement and evaluate system-level professional development opportunities, workshops, seminars, and resources for teachers and principals.
Collect and analyze data to identify areas for school improvement.
Collaborate closely with OCS staff, principals, and other stakeholders to achieve system-level goals.
Identify, implement, and evaluate a research-based teacher performance tool.
Support and advise our Talent Acquisition team in their efforts to recruit high-quality teachers.
Experience
Required- A minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience is required. Three years of full-time experience in school administration is preferred.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Proven expertise and experience in instructional effectiveness.
- Proven ability in using data to guide instructional decisions.
Education
Required- Bachelors or better
- Masters or better in Education Leadership
