Position: Director of Spa & Wellness
Job Summary:
Supervise Spa operations including quality control, guest relations, budgetary control, treatment, fitness, and wellness programs, and marketing to membership, media, and prospective clients. The overall quality and satisfaction of all the programs and services for Members and Guests depend on the Director of Spa & Fitness.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement treatments, fitness, and wellness programs.
2. Develop and administer Destination Spa Package Programs.
3. Responsible for purchasing supplies and equipment.
4. Select and train supervisory employees.
5. Formulate Annual Operating Budget and Capital Budgets: control expenditures, and achieve revenues.
6. Maintain Spa facility and equipment.
7. Supervise, staff, and train employees. Supervise Assistant Spa Director; Salon Manager; Fitness Manager; Personal Services Manager; Men's/Ladies Spa and Housekeeping Supervisor. Administrative Assistant; Boutique Assistant; Boutique Buyer and Children's Program Manager.
8. Develop training/procedural manuals for employees: conduct orientation meetings and other staff development activities.
9. Develop and implement marketing and promotional program for Spa services: ensure smooth guest relations: assist with public relations and marketing efforts to groups.
10. Conduct exercise classes and professional training as needed.
11. Comply with all FISHER ISLAND CLUB standards (i.e., grooming, conduct policies and procedures).
Job Requirements:
Credentials:
a. A college degree in hospitality, spa management, wellness, or related field, five years experience in the management of a luxury resort property and five years experience in the hospitality industry of a similar luxury resort, and a minimum of one approved industry certification.
b. Two or more years as a service provider in a related field.
c. CPR certification.

Other related information:
a. The Spa Director of the Spa should be a representative of a fit and healthy lifestyle and enjoy interpersonal contact with guests and enjoy the motivation that goes along with that. The Spa Director must also have the flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including holidays. All staff members are to have a friendly personality and communicate clearly to members in person and on the phone.
Education/Skills/Work Experience Required:
- Knowledge of: Body and Skincare treatment modalities; public relations; exercise science; management and communication skills. Four-year college degree in Business Management or Health Services, post-graduate studies (Master) in exercise management or Hospitality Management ideal. Prior management work experience in a Spa setting, preferably as Director.
