Job description

OBJECTIVE: The Director of SEC and Regulatory Reporting is responsible for the preparation and filing of all SEC and Regulatory filings. This role includes oversight of various planning, drafting and other activities that facilitate the efficient completion of those filings, including technical accounting research and documentation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following is a list of essential functions, which may be subject to change at any time and without advance notice. Management may assign new duties, reassign existing duties, or eliminate a function.
• Responsible for the preparation of regulatory and SEC Reports: CALL, FR-Y, 10-Q, 10-K and current reports (8-K) and review of other SEC and Regulatory periodic non-financial reports.
• Monitor the development and applicability of emerging accounting and reporting rules being deliberated by the SEC and other governing agencies or regulators.
• Maintain reporting timetable and monitor progress against reporting cycle milestones.
• Identify opportunities for automation and efficient processes around SEC and Regulatory reporting and related activities.
• Support various aspects of external auditor quarterly reviews and annual audits.
• Coordinate with various personnel and departments, to collect information and input into the above referenced reports.
• Coordinate, review and collect comments on the various report drafts; prepare repeatable, sustainable, auditable, report support workpapers; complete all relevant GAAP / disclosure checklists and reporting questionnaires.
• Responsible for technical accounting research, documentation, and implementation of related impacts.
• Assist with month-end close, and the gathering of SOX-related internal control supporting documentation.
• Support audit committee materials / engagement as needed.
• Support the documentation and maintenance of Company controls, policies, and procedures, where applicable.
• Execute responsibilities in compliance with the Company's Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) internal control framework.
• People Management expectations including actively participating in the recruiting and hiring process; actively participating in employee relations activities, such as: coaching and developing employees; taking disciplinary measures when warranted; participating in termination decisions as needed; completing all necessary performance management review processes and merit increase recommendations; and actively participating in all rewards and recognition activities
• Compliance with all regulatory requirements such as, but not limited to, BSA/AML, GLB/Privacy, Ethics for Bankers, and Pretext Calling and Identity Theft. Completion of Compliance Training to ensure understanding of these requirements, as outlined in the Bank's core curriculum and this positions specific curriculum on Republic Bank University.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree.

• Five years of reporting experience.
• Banking industry experience preferred.
• Certified Public Accountant preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
• Comprehensive understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Ability to act as an advisor on professional and technical issues with a view toward reaching strategic decisions.
• Experience with XBRL tagging.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task with limited supervision.
• Team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to tactfully challenge or disagree when appropriate.
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
• Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and staff.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a collaborative work environment.
• Prior experience designing, implementing, and documenting policies and procedures in a SOX environment.
