Job description

Sunnyside Village is one of the most highly respected not-for-profit Christian senior living communities in the Sarasota area. Serving our community for over 50 years, we offer residential living and additional care services, including out-patient therapy, assisted living, short-term rehabilitation, long-term comprehensive care, and palliative care, all within our distinctive 35-acre neighborhood.

JOB SUMMARY:

To direct and coordinate Dining & Life Enrichment across the campus in addition to IL Wellness, & IL Risk Management to ensure that quality services and community life are provided for the residents, in collaboration with various disciplines throughout campus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

§ Maintains a strong and supportive working relationship with the Resident Council Officers, Executive Committee and Council Members to promote a positive working relationship between residents and Sunnyside Management.

§ Serves as the primary staff contact to the Residents Council and attends Resident Council meetings.

§ Assists on the Admissions Committee and meets with IL residents prior to admission.

§ Responsible for facilitating IL Resident Coffee Hour.

§ Responsible to be available for emergency situations, including responding to fire alarms and other emergency notifications while on campus and on call.

§ Interprets and maintains updates to the IL Resident Handbook

§ Creates documents to outline procedures to ensure adherence to departmental policies and processes.

§ Assists in the resident’s orientation and acclimation to Sunnyside. Maintains strong on-going relationships, acts as a resource for residents regarding questions, problems, policies, and operations.

§ Participates in weekly Transition of Care meeting.

§ Partners with Resident Liaison & Wellness Coordinator in providing support to residents and families when residents are experiencing a decline in independence or are anticipating relocating to a higher level of care.

§ Participates in various committees as needed.

§ Initiates and encourages innovative programs and services for all applicable settings.

§ Evaluates and recommends technology to embrace, encourage and support residents around campus

§ Provides oversight regarding Independent Living event report in PEER. Tracks and trends events to improve quality and provide interventions as appropriate.

§ Develop and manage direct reports to maximize effectiveness and efficiencies of the designated areas of campus.

§ Evaluate direct reports for formal performance evaluations

§ Maintain proper documentation of performance, behavioral and discipline issues on direct reports; counsel employees and coordinate staff training when needed.

§ Model behaviors that consistently support the “Team environment” and cultivate healthy and effective relationships.

§ Employ an intentional process that delivers information in support of department needs and empowers staff campus wide.

§ Consistently demonstrate a cooperative and supportive style that fosters mutual respect.

§ Maintain awareness of the impact behaviors and attitudes have on subordinates and co-workers.

§ Provide ongoing training/education and reinforcement of policies / procedures and expected job performance.

§ Manage the assigned staff in accordance with the professional standards and policies of the community.

§ Assure proper staffing levels are maintained including weekend coverage.

§ Assure compliance with company, state and federal guidelines, policies and procedures.

§ Assures compliance and integrity in all aspects of staff & practice performance.

§ Assures effective and efficient coordination of staff.

§ Works with Recruiting to assure appropriate coverage and practice growth through candidate interviews, hiring, and orientation.

§ Provide each employee with a copy of the conditions of employment and of his job description.

§ Ensure and document that facility staff have received training in the core areas relevant to their job duties. As revisions or updates occur, administrators and their designees shall attend that portion of core training if applicable.

§ QAPI participation if applicable

§ Scheduling and payroll

§ Budget preparation

§ Participate in emergency drills according to regulations, i.e. fire and elopement drills at monthly staff meetings

§ Understand and agree with the Mission Statement of Sunnyside.

§ Must attend all mandatory in-service and Department-specific meetings/training.

Miscellaneous

· Will complete initial and ongoing Compliance and Privacy training that exhibits behavior as set forth by Code of Conduct in performance of their duties.

· Practice safe working habits at all times. Bring any safety concerns to the attention of a safety committee member immediately or within an appropriate timeframe.

REQUIREMENTS:

BA/BS degree and/or 5+ years of management experience, preferable in healthcare, social services, or hospitality setting working with senior adults. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, strong leadership skills and excellent interpersonal relationship & communication skills delivered in a professional, collaborative and positive manner are critical for success. Excellent organizational and time management skills are important as well as being proficient in Microsoft products. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
