THE OPPORTUNITY:

Transtar is seeking a Director of Purchasing, who will be a key member of the Supply Chain Leadership Team, and will report to Vice President of Purchasing and Inventory. The Director of Purchasing will be responsible for developing and implementing a sourcing strategy for Transtar’s distribution network, to enable Transtar to significantly increase revenue over the coming next years, as per our strategic plan. We are looking for a dynamic leader and a change agent, who has a proven track record of setting and implementing strategic initiatives and challenging status quo. This position will work closely with Executive Leadership Team, Supply Chain Leadership Team and Sales Leadership Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Responsible for four departments within the Purchasing pillar, which include Sourcing, Direct Purchasing, Indirect Purchasing and Warranty.

· Lead a team of 3 Department Managers, and 6 total team members, by coaching, mentoring, motivating, and holding them accountable, to ensure that products are sourced from the best suppliers, at the best total cost, without sacrificing quality to all for on time delivery in order to fill customer needs across our 80 locations.

· Create, develop and implement a vision and strategy for new supplier selection and on-boarding, as it relates to new product lines and new categories, which is critical in order for Transtar to be successful in the General Repair market.

· Full responsibility for $300MM annual spend on direct and indirect products.

· Develop a Warranty Policy and Program, which will increase value for our customers, while improving quality of our products, and generating incremental revenue through extended warranty sales.

· Develop operational budget during annual budgeting process and have P&L responsibility for large annual rebate program and favorable PPV. Continue increasing the value of the rebate programs as well as PPV improvements through negotiations with suppliers.

· Cultivate and strengthen partnerships with over 900 partners, suppliers and vendors, to ensure cooperation and to maximize value for Transtar while also putting together a P&Q supplier program with strategic partnerships.

· Continue improving KPIs in each area of responsibility, and present monthly to the CEO of Transtar.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or related field.

· Minimum 15 years working in automotive aftermarket industry, in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, category management or supply chain.

· Minimum 10 years of leadership roles, leading managers or supervisors.

· Must be very comfortable in a fast pace environment, with a multitude of projects and initiatives running concurrently.

· Strong negotiation skills.

· Solid understanding of financials and working capital.

· Strong data analysis and business intelligence experience.

· Emotionally Intelligent with the ability to influence.

· Experience working with buying groups, such as Pronto.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· MBA

· JDE experience and working knowledge

· General Repair and Installer market knowledge and experience

· Private equity experience

· Asian sourcing

· Experience with vendor payment programs as well and purchasing systems (Jaggaer, Ariba, Coupa etc.)

· Strong communication skills: ability to communicate across various levels of the organization, from presenting strategic initiatives to the CEO, to discussing job responsibility changes with a buyer.

· Knowledge and understanding of automotive aftermarket distribution, including associated challenges and opportunities.
