Job Title:  Director of Program

Location: California based hybrid in-person/remote work setting

The Education Fund is a non-profit partnership between 6 Locals of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and 22 Healthcare Industry employers, serving the education and training needs of 100,000 eligible workers. Our mission is to empower our diverse healthcare workforce to advance in a changing environment through innovative education and training solutions.  Our program and budget have doubled in scale over the last 5 years to provide career advancement and continuing education services to 20,000 learners annually, and we are positioned for continued growth with new partners and funding.

Principal Purpose of Job: The Director of Program will create and lead strategy to drive the growth of the business by operationalizing a game-changing, high quality, end-to-end learner experience, identifying and prioritizing all relevant key performance indicators and streamlining best-in-practice processes to scale our programs.  

Level of Authority: Works independently within the scope and direction of the Chief Operating Officer, and in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. Participates as a member of the Leadership team in the development and implementation of organization-wide policies and programs that will contribute to our overall success. The Director of programs will drive our end-to-end learner experience, identifying and prioritizing all relevant key performance indicators and streamlining best-in-practice processes to staff and scale our programs.  Work Environment: Works in a fast-paced office setting with frequent interruptions and many demands on time. Travel required.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Incumbent must have the skills, abilities, and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities, with or without reasonable accommodation: 

You are an integral part of the Leadership team and a collaborative expert on internal business operation systems and innovative workforce development programs.  You anticipate future needs and develop solutions for overcoming hurdles.  You set high standards for the teams you lead and drive accountability for outcomes. You ensure program strategies translate to measurable objectives and actionable plans. You proactively support problem-solving and conflict resolution across teams.

Key leadership team member supervising the following departments: Education, Career Advice & ROC. 

•    Develop successful strategies to ensure your departments meet the needs and goals of the organization. 
•    Leads direct reports in program planning, team and individual performance, prioritization that leads to results, budget, and outcome reporting.
•    Ensure that information is communicated across the organization, the work of direct reports is timely, and goals are achieved.
•    Partner with the COO, and Executive Director to prioritize the objectives of the 3-year plan to ensure the program is adaptive and successful.  
•    Collaborate with other leaders to ensure strategic initiatives and grants are fully integrated into your teams’ operations.
•    Supervise the ongoing implementation of a scalable Career Advice program that includes a coaching methodology to improve learner experience, satisfaction, and success. 
•    Manage synchronization of Education, Career Advice, and ROC in support of Program delivery to achieve learner goals and outcomes.
•    Lead department efficiency and process improvements, change management, and training, resulting in operative staffing plan and team structure, Standard Operating Procedures, and effective use of technology systems.
•    Partner in program learning and improvement through formal evaluation with AD for Quality Assurance.
•    Responsible for tracking, monitoring, communicating, and driving team accountability for learner outcomes and department performance.
•    Working with the COO to interpret current policies related to program operations and processes. Provide recommendations for change when necessary.
•    Comfortable with structuring complicated issues and finding creative solutions to challenges. 
•    Promote a culture of solution-driven accountability, quality, and continuous improvement within program teams.
•    Critically assess program plans and execution, diagnose problems, and lead solutions. Resolve conflicting priorities and set goals linked to the objectives of the organization.
•    Responsible for program strategy and planning to ensure the program teams have the appropriate resources and tools to provide the highest level of service excellence.
•    Translate program strategy into actions, timelines, goals, and measurable results. 
•    Build and maintain strong external relationships and partnerships to support programmatic growth. 

 

This position will be responsible for supervising: 
•    Assistant Director of Programs 
•    Assistant Director, Education 
•    Assistant Director Career Advice
•    Assistant Director, Education & ROC 

Qualifications

Qualifications and Capabilities:
•    BA/BS degree required; advanced degree preferred.
•    At least five to eight years of experience in management/leadership roles. 
•    Experience with workforce development industry.
•    Experience effectively managing multi-site operations and teams. 
•    Strong intellectual curiosity and ability to analyze, conceptualize and evaluate information to determine relative strengths and weaknesses of ideas and proposals. 
•    Comfortable managing ambiguity and balancing action with the appropriate level of risk.
•    Experience with project management, budget creation, and management. Strong Excel skills.
•    Demonstrated problem-solving leadership with limited oversight in a rapidly evolving environment. 
•    Strong ability to influence and manage large teams to achieve outcomes. 
•    Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize to achieve outcomes successfully. 
•    Able to analyze data or trends and provide recommendations. 
•    Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent public speaking skills.
•    Must have a valid California Driver’s License, use a vehicle, and maintain an appropriate level of car insurance.
•    All candidates will undergo pre-employment requirements, including a criminal background check and education verification.
 Preferred Qualifications and Capabilities:
•    Experience with labor-management partnerships, workforce development, higher education, healthcare sector, public sector, employer and union stakeholders, and Salesforce.

Compensation: 
•    Compensation available for the role considers various factors, including but not limited to work location, individual skill set, previous/applicable experience, and other organizational needs. The estimated salary range for this role is $100,000 – $160,000.
