DIRECTOR OF PLANT SAFETY
Growing food manufacturing company with three large manufacturing facilities in Chicago is looking for a DIRECTOR OF PLANT SAFETY.
MUST have strong experience managing and training plant SAFETY in a food manufacturing company.
This is about the SAFETY of people, not the food manufacturing but experience in the specific hazards of employees engaged in food manufacturing is essential.
Company is southeast of Midway airport in Chicago, north of Oak Lawn. No relocation offered. Must live within commuting distance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review, create and enforce safety procedures
- Expert in lockout tagout
- Ensure plant personnel are following established procedures
- Visit the plants and enforce all company policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with other departments
- Train employees on safety
- Make sure plants are following safety regulations
- Responsibility (authority) for dealing with safety noncompliance
- Have the ability to problem solve and troubleshoot any food safety non-compliances.
- Train and maintain all training records on critical safety requirements.
- Implement training so there is a culture of safety
- Knowledge of SQF and FSMA helpful
- Manage staff
Qualifications - Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree
- Strong knowledge of OSHA Regulations
- Experience in safety with food manufacturing
- Vision, persistence, patience, goal oriented, and mature self-starter.
- Effective problem-solving skills and administrative ability to communicate and follow-up with all levels of management required.
Salary negotiable based on experience because we are looking for a highly experienced DIRECTOR OF SAFETY with experience in food manufacturing.
