Founded in 2003, HAF advances the understanding of Hinduism to secure the rights and dignity of Hindu Americans now and for generations to come. HAF does this by providing accurate and engaging educational resources about Hinduism and Hindu Americans, impactful training, advocacy, and services that protect and promote religious liberty, free expression, equality, and justice, and critical and creative programs empowering Hindu Americans to sustain their culture and identity.


Position Summary:
The Director of Philanthropy will help execute HAF’s philanthropy vision and assist with fundraising, cultivating, and donor relations. This position requires an outgoing, highly energetic individual who can successfully do the following:


Essential Duties:
The Director of Philanthropy will:


    • Major Gifts:
      • Cultivate Donor Circle members, loosely defined as annual giving of $1000 or more, including renewals, expansion of members, and pledge fulfillment.
      • Collaborate with team members to identify high-account engagement prospects and assist with prospect tracking.
      • Facilitate meetings and face-to-face solicitations with prospects.
      • Work with team members to cultivate new and existing donors
      • Assist with year-end and seasonal giving campaigns.
      • Increase Donor Circle and prospect attendance at HAF events and galas through personalized outreach.
    • Planned Giving:
      • Assist with cultivating major donors and nurture continued giving through estate planning.
      • Launch and lead digitized (20%) and print (80%) planned giving campaigns in collaboration with marketing team.
    • Data Management:
      • Log donations from contribution portals in CRM (Salesforce NPSP) and update bi-weekly special campaign reports for accountants.
      • Manage Double the Donation portal activity and assist with approving matching gifts.
      • Assist in the creation of dashboards for quantifying donation data.
      • Maintain accurate database records and manage email opt-outs and bounces.
      • Update Donor Circle and prospect profiles in CRM (Salesforce NPSP).
      • Run Salesforce NPSP reports for Board members’ local cultivation efforts.

Required Education and Experience:



        • Undergraduate degree in liberal arts, business, accounting, or a related field.
        • At least three to five years of relevant experience in a similar role at a mission-driven organization.
        • Working knowledge of India, Hindu teachings, practices, traditions, and the diaspora.
        • Ability to communicate effectively in written, verbal, and electronic modes.
        • Record of successful collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
        • Technical fluency with productivity and database applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, proficiency in Google Sheets or Excel, and online collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams, Slack).
        • Technical experience with fundraising CRM such as Salesforce or similar platform is a strong plus. Willingness to learn new technology and donor platforms.
        • Strong proficiency in the following competencies: attention to detail, time and priority management, organization skills, and self-management.
        • Strong relationship building skills.
