Position Summary:

The Director of Pharmaceutical Therapies is the strategic and tactical lead for all Pharmaceutical Therapies, including but not limited to intraoffice dispensaries, infusion operations, and injectables for all United Urology Group (UUG) practices. Adhering to the principles of the quadruple aim, this person shall help drive patient navigation through appropriate pharmaceutical care pathways. While most focus will be placed on prostate cancer therapies, this role applies to all urological disease states in which pharmaceutical therapy is appropriate. A direct reporting relationship exists between UUG practice pharmacy technicians and this role, with the expectation that non-reporting influence shall exist with multiple functions, including clinical operations, patient navigation, revenue cycle, and payor contracting.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Pharmaceutical Therapy Program Director

  • Develop, implement, and manage standard operating procedures related to the dispensing of Pharmaceuticals based on operational needs and payor/regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the development of Pharmaceutical care pathways and update as new therapies become available; drive practice-level compliance to pharmaceutical care pathways with clinical leadership and operational support.
  • Lead the roll-out of any new therapy, including but not limited to care pathway adjustments, financial assessment, and clinical/operational education.
  • Assist in driving utilization to the optimal formulary.
  • Develop patient-level worklists and work with field operations to ensure these patients are being provided clinically indicated therapies within each practice.
  • Drive retail pharmacy operations with the intent to expand into therapies currently not offered on any UUG practice's formulary.
  • Ensure all intraoffice dispensaries and infusion sites have the appropriate licensing in place that is required to provide care.
  • Directly manage a team of pharmacy technicians (that also have dotted line reporting relationships to practice-level operations) located in each market.
  • Key relationship manager for PSAO, specialty pharmaceutical GPO, and outsourced business intelligence engine
  • Drive projects to enhance UUG's pharmaceutical therapy program, including but not limited to enterprise software deployment, enhanced PAC utilization, and order/script fulfillment automation.
  • Support M&A activity by assisting in diligence and integrating pharmaceutical therapy program post-acquisition.

KPI Performance

  • Design and manage key performance indicators that drive appropriate patient care and improved P&L performance.
  • With the assistance of UUG's internal Business Intelligence, executive leadership, and clinical leadership teams, develop internal dashboards and scorecards outputting the appropriate KPIs.
  • Lead weekly reviews with market operations leadership of past week's performance and current week's throughput expectations.
  • KPIs shall include internal specialty pharmaceutical IOD fill rates, labor efficiency measures, infusion bed usage per working day, and out-of-period voids; sample KPIs provided are not an exhaustive list.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required with a strong preference for business, healthcare administration, or pharmacology. Advanced degree is a plus but not required.
  • Four to seven (4-7) years experience in a clinical setting; non-acute care is favored over acute care, although either is acceptable. Oncology practice experience is strongly preferred. Intraoffice dispensary and infusion center experience ideal.
  • When not traveling, the role is hybrid. Employees must live in either the Maryland, Colorado, or Phoenix markets with a preference in Maryland.

Direct Reports:

  • UUG practice pharmacy technicians and this role, with the expectation that non-reporting influence shall exist with multiple functions, including clinical operations, patient navigation, revenue cycle, and payor contracting,

Travel:

  • Travel needs will fluctuate with the business needs and will generally be 25% to 50% of the time. Locations currently located in Delaware, Maryland, Tennessee, Colorado, and Arizona, but with M&A activities geography will likely expand.

Physical Requirements for the Job:

  • Regularly required to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Involves standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, and twisting.
  • Requires full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
