About Us: Established in 1975 by an act of the Virginia General Assembly, the Capital Region Airport Commission owns and operates Richmond International Airport (RIC). The Commission directs the growth, operation and business activities of RIC and works tirelessly to ensure it continues to be an affordable option for local, regional, and out-of-state travelers.
General Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Operations provides oversight and direction to the Airport’s Operations Division, which includes Airside, Parking, Landside, and Terminal Operations, Security, and Emergency Management, and the Police and Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) Divisions.
Required Experience:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in aviation management, business administration, or a closely related field. A master’s degree is preferred along with industry-relevant certifications.
Ten or more (10+) years of progressively responsible operations management experience at a commercial service airport. At least five (5) years of the experience must include the direct supervision of staff.
Required Skills:
- Plans, organizes, and directs the operations for the airport passenger terminal and concourses, the airfield, parking structures and lots, roadways, and other airport facilities.
Ensures airport operations functions comply with federal, state, and local regulations and requirements
Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders in delivering the airport’s Capital Improvement Plan to ensure continuity of airport operations.
