DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
The Director of Operations is the business operations leader and is responsible for executing all non-instructional district functions to include transportation, maintenance-custodial services, food services, and human resources.The Director of Operations is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, and efficiency of department and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies The essential duties and responsibilities of the Director of Operations are as follows:
Strategic Input & Leadership-
  • Assists the Superintendent with the overall direction and management of the district.
  • Helps to develop and maintain a positive school community to include a safe and healthy environment conducive for academic success.
  • Oversees the development of strategic plans for operational activity.
  • Servesas a member of the Leadership Teamwith high levels of accountability and decision making responsibilities.

Coordination & Supervision-
  • Coordinates and leads the working of various departments within the school district.
  • Improves the efficiency of operational support services for district departments.
  • Facilitates coordination and communication between multiple support functions.
  • Evaluates current policies and operating practices while balancing organizational interests and employee needs. Recommends changes as needed.
  • Oversees the development of comprehensive staff training and professional growth opportunities.
  • Fosters a positive working relationship between administrators and operations staff.
  • Responds to emergencies during normal working hours and non-working hours to maintain a satisfactory work environment at all district buildings and grounds.

Compliance & Contractual Oversight-
  • Ensures facilities meet district custodial, maintenance, safety, and security standards.
  • Oversees district facilities compliance, and inspection requirements.
  • Actively manages the district's food service contract.
  • Negotiates and implements operations-related contracted services.
  • Represents the districtwhen dealing with architects, engineers, and contractors on minor and major capital construction and renovation projects.
  • Directs projects to ensure completion within time frames, project design, and budget guidelines.
  • Monitors expenditures to operate in a cost-effective manner in compliance with procurement codes.
  • Works cooperatively with local units of government and other community organizations to develop and implement interagency partnerships that are beneficial to the operations of the district.

Human Capital-
  • Confers with administration to determine recruiting needs and balances district needs with resources.
  • Works with the Superintendent in maintaining the benefits philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Supports administration with ensuring compensation recommendations are in line with the Master Teacher Contract and classified staff career ladder.
  • Assures compliance with ADA, EEO, and Equal Pay Act related to hiring and employment.
  • Updates and maintains the Administrator/Classified handbook and organizational chart.
  • Serves as the district liaison regarding the health plan, dental plan, vision plan, life insurance, disability insurance, Section 125, and other benefits.
  • Oversees employee leaves to include FMLA and sick bank.
  • Oversees all worker's compensation claims and acts as a liaison between administration, employees, and medical providers.
  • Conducts required 5 year criminal background checks of all employees & maintain records.
  • Monitors teacher licensure records. Works with administration to ensure all licensing requirements are met. Works with the Superintendent to request waivers from the state as needed.

Educational/Experience Requirements-
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or school leadership.
  • Requiresat least five years of progressively responsible work experience in administration/leadership.
  • No specific licenses are required; however, business official certifications are strongly preferred.

Compensation, Benefits, and Hiring-
Position is exempt for 260 days of service. Compensation is $70-80k based upon experience and qualifications. Benefits offered for full time employees include health/life insurance, retirement, vacation, personal days, sick time, and paid holidays. All employees are required to pass a background check and drug screening.
