The Director of Marketing & Communications serves as a key leadership team member and an active participant in making strategic decisions affecting the Scarritt Bennett Center (Center). Specifically, this position is a creative and innovative marketing professional whose initiative is to promote the Center in all local, regional, and national venues. Position Center as thought leaders in women’s empowerment, transformative education, spiritual formation, and racial justice by writing long and short form content, blogs, op-ed articles, customer stories, social media, and more.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Develop Communications, public relations plans, supporting all programs and activities of Center.
- Design, implement, facilitate, and execute all Marketing & communication plans, strategies for Center including establishing a Scarritt Bennett Center brand.
- Strategize and develop communications and publications required for all the Center’s printed and electronic publications including the design, review and editing of internal/external publications, and materials.
- Utilizes our strategic goals and objectives to prepare a brand portfolio, objectives, plans, and strategies to facilitate the growth of our organization.
- Determines appropriate communication & marketing strategies in all segments to drive organic growth and maximize revenues.
- Plan/administer the Center’s marketing, communications, and public relations operations budget.
- Develop and administer the marketing database that includes prospective and current client contact information, access to financial documents and reports, and mailing lists, etc.
- Network, develop, and foster external relationships in the Nashville community that reflects Center’s stated mission and goals. Represents Center in public settings and should be involved with one local community organization.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, all staff in the Office of Communications & Marketing.
- Create long-range planning, benchmarking, and other measures to ensure the Center is keeping up with marketing trends.
- Develop a social media marketing plan and continue to stay current with all social media trends, regular monitoring of relevant communications, media, and public relations events and activities around the state and region.
- Build and develop a marketing team that is competent, dedicated, commercially astute and efficient, supporting the executive director with corporate, public, and private development activities primarily focused on funding and sponsorship activities for Center.
- Manage photography of Center events. Edit website and printed publications/programming.
- Participate in team meetings regarding deliverables and updates.
- Manage and update communications and public relations project files.
- Manage event ads/materials.
- Create and manage budget associated with marketing and communication.
- Develop campaigns, documentation funds, and sponsorship activities.
- Other duties as assigned; manage media relations, lead, plan, and execute all media required forspecific Center events, programs, and initiatives.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations/Communications or a related field required with a minimum of 5+ years professional experience in marketing and project management skills.
- Knowledge of policies, ability to use discretion, judgment, and initiative to make independent decisions.
- Meticulous with ability to oversee projects from origination through execution.
- Strong and proven oral, written, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Effective leadership, organizational training, and collaborative skills. Must be able to perform multiple concurrent tasks.
- Should possess computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft word, digital marketing, and social media platforms.
- Weekends and evenings will occasionally be necessary to successfully perform job responsibilities.
- Willingness to learn and should be able to flourish in a high-growth, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
- Initiative-taker with a direct business approach.
