About The Job
We are seeking a Director of Marketing who excels as a creative and innovative leader within the engineering industry. As Director of Marketing, you’ll play a pivotal role in collaborating with operational leadership and overseeing the firm’s marketing, business development, branding, and communications (promotional, publications, and creative) strategies to drive continued success. The Director of Marketing will report directly to the CEO.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Leadership
- Provide guidance, tactical and strategic planning, and support execution to create high-quality, on-time marketing deliverables to support the firm’s goals and mission across all service areas, and client needs.
- Serve as a prominent brand ambassador and skilled storyteller to help shape and share their brand and vision.
- Collaborate with practice leaders and operational leaders to continue to position the organization as a leader in the A/E/C marketplace.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of marketing, communications, publications, and creative professionals to achieve clear goals and facilitate professional development.
- Foster a culture of excellence and innovation to deliver high-quality proposals, presentations, and promotional communication materials to internal and external clients.
- Conduct market research to identify industry trends and innovations, customer needs, and competitors' activities.
- Create and manage the marketing budget to ensure cost-effective strategies.
- Actively participate in A/E/C industry events and contribute to thought leadership in the industry.
- Support publications and creative team leaders in their strategic decision making and delivery of top-notch marketing and non-marketing deliverables, including client work products.
Proposal Services and Business Development
- Collaborate with practice leaders, proposal services manager, and business development manager to develop and expand service offerings, business plans, and be a “connector” of resources to lead the development of winning strategies to support firmwide business growth.
- Evaluate and optimize business development, capture planning, and proposal management systems and processes to capitalize on opportunities to expand our client relationships and grow in target markets.
- Direct the maintenance, management, and optimization of CRM data in Deltek VantagePoint to support firmwide business development activities.
- Oversee the strategy of business development activities for key strategic clients in collaboration with practice leadership.
- Collaborate with key organizations and consultants to establish teaming opportunities that enhance standing in the A/E/C market.
- Seek speaking opportunities at industry events to further elevate organization.
Analytics and Reporting
- Leverage marketing metrics and data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of Marketing strategies and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management.
- Apply a passion for data and an understanding of the unique challenges for the A/E/C industry to capitalize on various CRM systems.
Promotional Communications
- Work in partnership with the promotional communications manager to develop and implement strategies for promotional campaigns leveraging channels including the website/blog, social media, email, webinars, digital advertising, and media/press.
- Partner with promotional communications manager to monitor and analyze digital marketing metrics, and adjust strategies, as needed.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, public relations, or a related field
- 10–15 yrs. experience in various marketing leadership roles and capture planning/management in the A/E/C industry or related fields.
- Experience leading wide-ranging marketing activities ranging from high-profile proposal development to promotional marketing campaigns for a spectrum of practices in the environmental, design, engineering, planning, and transportation fields.
- Experience leading a team and driving cross-functional initiatives, ideally within an entrepreneurial environment.
- Ability to work West Coast (PST) hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in marketing, business, public relations, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of A/E/C industry dynamics and trends.
- Understanding of standard AEC proposal practices.
- Knowledge of Deltek Vision/Deltek VantagePoint
- Excellent communication skills

- Foundational understanding of the uses of AI in elevating communications, marketing, and proposal work products
Physical Requirements
Working Conditions:
- This job operates in a remote or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc.
- This job requires occasional project site visits-based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, moving vehicles and equipment.

Proposed Salary Range: $160,000 - $220,000*
*Final agreed upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
