Job Description
This is an on-site position located at Ruan Center downtown Des Moines, IA.
This leader will help create and align Ruan's vision for Data and advanced analytics.
Directors within the Ruan Information Technology Department manage one or more related functional areas and also lead cross-functional teams to complete projects of significant magnitude and scope. Each IT Director supervises a team of up to 20 people, which may or may not include subordinate managers. It is the IT Director's responsibility to train and develop all such employees for advancing roles within the company.
Responsibilities:

• Supervise and provide leadership to build and maintain a strong team through effective communications, recruiting, training, coaching, counseling, appraising, rewarding, developing, and succession planning. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Direct and oversee Data and analytic functional areas including managing individual team members and the projects or tasks to which they are assigned.
• Develop and implement strategy, planning, and communication for the IT functions to achieve operational and financial performance. Review, recommend, update, and implement departmental processes and procedures.
• Manage projects by working with stakeholders to identify and document scope, risks, assumptions, priority and resources. Develop project goals, plans and budgets. Assign project tasks to team members and serve as team lead to challenge, motivate and evaluate their progress. Monitor project status and results against schedule and budget and provide ongoing reports to management. Anticipate and address problems. Work to assure user acceptance and ownership of project.
• Partner and collaborate with customers to scope, plan, and implement projects that enable Ruan to serve new or current customers.
• Ensure that employees adhere to and implement departmental procedures, such as periodic access reviews, Software Development Lifecycle guidelines, coding standards, and Project Management Office guidelines.
• Create and manage individual department budget. Identify, implement, and monitor continuous improvement efforts.
• Monitor, manage, and continually improve employee productivity through measurement, coaching, new tools, and training.
• Build and develop business relationships with both internally and externally.
• Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Requirements
Education:Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Course(s) of study: Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering, or closely related field.
Experience: 10+ years / type of experience: Information Technology experience including managing IT employees.

• Requires knowledge of databases, development languages, IT project management, financial reporting, and software development methodologies.
• Must have knowledge of common transportation processes.
• Needs the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Must be proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• Requires planning and organizational skills, problem-solving, communication, presentation, analytical, leadership, negotiation, relationship building, accuracy and detail orientation skills.
