The Director of Information Technology will serve as a key position guiding the organization to securely meet key technology objectives while delivering effective technical support services to internal and external customers. This role will be directly responsible for the planning and overall management, support, and administration of the IT infrastructure (systems/network), IT Service management (support services), and Information Security for the organization, including the corporate and satellite locations. The Director of Information Technology is central to ensuring the organization’s day-to-day IT needs are met and supported and will collaborate closely with members at all levels of the organization while directing and leading a diverse team who are accountable for the delivery of Information Technology services, to include areas such as business applications, data integrations, unified communications, network services, data center operations, servers and storage platforms, service monitoring, service desk, staff onboarding, and technology adoption. The Director of Information Technology’s goal is to deliver an architecture that supports the most efficient IT environment meeting current needs while preparing for future development and growth.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Hires and trains staff.
  • Schedules, organizes, and assigns projects to members of the team.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of IT professionals, encouraging collaboration and promoting high- performance standards.
  • Develop and implement the company's IT infrastructure strategy in alignment with the overall business strategy, considering long-term goals and industry best practices.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of all IT infrastructure components, including servers, networks, storage, data centers, and cloud services.
  • Ensure that the IT infrastructure meets the highest security standards and complies with relevant data protection regulations and industry-specific requirements.
  • Develop and manage the IT infrastructure budget and business plan, making strategic investments to enhance performance and efficiency while optimizing costs and providing financial performance and assessment reviews.
  • Develop and maintain robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring minimal downtime and quick recovery in case of system failures or emergencies.
  • Collaborate and with and directly manage key relationships with third-party vendors and service providers to negotiate contracts, oversee service level agreements, and ensure the delivery of quality services.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in IT infrastructure, and assess their potential impact on the organization's operations, recommending adoption where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and other department heads to communicate IT infrastructure plans, progress, and outcomes, addressing concerns and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Analyzes IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and developing and monitoring other metrics and needs.
  • Create and direct strategic and tactical goals, policies and procedures for the IT department.
  • Owns the planning, coordination, implementation, and change management related to cross-enterprise IT projects
  • Develops and maintains relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
  • Directly responsible for successful asset management program (tracking, procurement, and inventory) of all hardware/infrastructure/devices.
  • Develop bid requirements for all hardware and software upgrades, review submitted bids for compliance with stated requirements, and makes the appropriate award.
  • Authorize and oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, and support of all hardware and software based on department needs.
  • Owns and directs the day-to-day technical support and operations of all systems and infrastructure, including internal and external facing services.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Travel required of up to 75% of the time.

REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that they are able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in latest technology for IT systems and management.
  • Skilled technical expertise with Microsoft Windows, Office 365, and related software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Expert analytical and problem solving skills; ability to provide root cause analysis, and lead teams to demonstrate results through testing and metrics.
  • Ability to manage concurrent efforts with competing priorities while ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
  • Excellent understanding of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and telecommunications systems.
  • Must be hands-on IT professional with ability to work both independently and as a team member. Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to coordinate communications, objectives, and tasks between internal and external resources.
  • Must be able to travel up to 75% of the time.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or technology and management related certifications required; MBA or other relevant graduate degree is a plus
  • 5+ years leadership experience directly managing and leading IT teams.
  • 10+ years of IT experience.
  • Highly proficient contract negotiations, contract maintenance, and vendor management.
  • Experience administering and managing VoIP telecommunications systems.
  • Experience administering and managing Microsoft 365 environment (Azure, Entra, Intune, MDM, SharePoint, Teams, etc) for business of 400+ users/employees.
  • Demonstrated experience with IT strategic planning, governance, structure, documentation, and implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience with SaaS, cloud-based, and outsourced solutions through third party providers.
  • Experience designing and managing an effective IT governance framework across the spectrum of IT service delivery.
  • Experience supporting and managing remote environments/locations successfully with limited on-the-ground resources.
