Job Summary
Assumes responsibility for the establishment, evaluation and implementation of infection control practices and standards within the organization. The organization wide Infection Control Program is designed and maintained by the Director of Infection Prevention in conjunction with the Infection Control Practitioner, Infection Control Committee and the VP MA. A proactive, investigative and involved presentation of the infection control position is emphasized. Programmatic development and coordination is accomplished through Infection Control Committee. Active professional improvement must be maintained to evaluate infection control improvement activities for the organization. Works collaboratively with the Infection Disease Physician Consultant, Infection Control Committee Chairman and the County Public Health Department. Must possess and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development of varied age groups, neonatal to geriatric.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education Requirement :
Graduate of an accredited program of appropriate medical, nursing or microbiology education and licensed in the state of New York required. BS preferred. Annual continuing education.
Minimum Experience Requirement :
Familiarity and accessibility to and by staff, physicians, department heads, administration and community healthcare
professionals is expected. Skills in interpersonal communication, diplomacy and public relations required. Teaching/learning conceptual knowledge and instructional skills required.
Minimum License Requirement :
Certified in Infection Control (CIC) preferred. Certification required within two years.
