Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center located in Lewis Center, Ohio is searching for a Director of Eventsto join our team! This position will lead the conference and social planning teams. This role will be critical in updating and maintaining the Conference Center Operating Standards.

Essential Functions:
- Ensures that our guests’ meeting experience at Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center is reflective of a distinct, sophisticated events campus
- Greets, responds to, and maintains contact with clients while on site
- Handles events for key clients
- Supervises on-site management and hourly associates to ensure events are properly detailed to the standard.
- Mentors and assists the planning department to ensure the accurate and timely flow of information, superior levels of performance and dependable and friendly service to external and internal clients.
- Planning and coordination of meetings and events, and guest room related activities (related to assigned group), to ensure the obligations by the hotel and client are met with satisfaction. Act as liaison between Sales and the Operations Team by disseminating appropriate information as it relates to the meeting and/or event
- Develops policies/procedures regarding department operations in the spirit of continuous improvement, including standardizing packages, menus, diagrams, etc.
- Infuses creativity and enthusiasm to bring energy to the environment with the goal of providing a unique event experience for our guests. Mentors planning managers to uphold these standards
- Interviews, trains, mentors, and supervises staff
- Responsible for the overall Safety Culture of Department
- Responsible for ensuring that what we promise guests, we can deliver within the confines of our space and services
- Responsible for communicating all details of groups to ensure entire team is aware of the client’s expectations to ensure superior guest satisfaction
- Assumes responsibility for overseeing and managing the workflow of the team in the absence of team members, ensuring continuity and smooth operation until the member has returned or a replacement is found
- Responsible for resolving any guest opportunities through resolution and satisfaction, exceeding the guests’ expectations
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
- Must have excellent organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task is required
- Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to address guest and associate issues through to resolution and satisfaction
- Delphi/Maestro Experience Preferred
- Knowledge of corporate and social planning processes
- 5 years of experience in the event industry
- 2 years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports
