Director Of Engineering

Robert Half is currently seeking a Director of Engineering for our MA environmental research firm. The chosen candidate will have strategic oversight of their Information Technology support and development for their engineering and scientific departments. They will guide personnel in creating valuable working relationships with key personnel throughout their research facility and work collaboratively to implement a range of IT solutions.

You will oversee the deployment and maintenance of commercial and custom applications and services such as lab systems, SaaS applications, Databases, embedded applications, artificial intelligence, and websites.

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and manage all personnel to guarantee efficient IT support in science, engineering, and administrative departments.
• Formulate strategies, roadmaps, processes and procedures to ensure reliable, efficient, and secure software applications and systems.
• Work with the user community to identify IT needs, develop strategies and execute solutions.
• Collaborate with Science and Engineering leaders to set strategies, prioritize IT needs and oversee implementations.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, security materials, procedures, and trainings for staff and end users.
• Act as the primary point of contact for communicating institutional needs to vendors and outside organizations.
• Stay updated with computing systems and technology trends.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
• No less than 15 years of managerial experience, preferably with a focus on application development, configuration, administration, and integration; as well as project management.
• Proven experience in managing both personnel and functional details.
• A history of implementing and supporting both cloud and on-premises systems.
• Excellent collaboration, mentoring, goal orientation, and customer service abilities.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of project management and application development methodologies.
• Experienced in vendor management and dealing with Information Technology providers.
