Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information

Serving over 250 music majors and 1600 non-majors, the Dr. Bobbie Bailey School of Music is a dynamic and inclusive community of learners within the College of the Arts at KSU, the 3rd largest public university in the University System of Georgia. The Bailey School of Music offers undergraduate degrees in performance (instrumental, vocal, and jazz), music theory, composition, and music education, as well as a music minor. KSU is an R2 institution located in the north metro Atlanta suburbs with easy access to Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, and all the world-class arts and cultural events that this vibrant area has to offer. Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, twelve-month, administrative faculty position as a tenured Professor and Director of Dr. Bobbie BaileySchool of Music in the School of Music that begins July 2024. The application deadline has been extended.

Responsibilities

The Director will foster an inclusive, innovative, entrepreneurial, and collaborative environment that attracts, engages, and retains faculty, staff, and students of distinction.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing program oversight and advancement
  • Supporting a transparent, shared-governance environment
  • Managing and allocating resources and budgets
  • Strategically and creatively leading the School into distinction within an R2 University
  • Managing and developing faculty and staff
  • Teaching (one course per year)
  • Recruitment
  • Fundraising and working with external advisory boards
  • Community engagement and outreach
  • Leading the School's marketing and alumni relations
  • Overseeing student development
  • Effective communication
  • Overseeing program accreditation and assessment

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications
  • A terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Music or related discipline with an academic background and appropriate credentials to be a tenured Professor in the School of Music in the College of the Arts at KSU is required.
  • An established body of peer-reviewed scholarship and/or creative activity at national and/or international levels
  • A record of excellence in teaching, service, and external peer-reviewed scholarship and/or creative activity as appropriate to the rank of Professor.
  • Qualified candidates will demonstrate a distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, creative activity, and service; proven communication and administrative skills; experience with and aptitude for fundraising, long-range planning, program advocacy, and budget management.
  • 3+ years of academic program management/leadership; a record of innovative leadership, integrity, intellectual curiosity, compassion, and the ability to inspire others.
