Director of Development Reports To: Chief Executive Officer FLSA Status: Exempt Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW Providing the support our seniors need to extend their independence and health as they age. For many seniors in our community, Meals on Wheels is the difference between remaining in their own homes and needing to relocate to a nursing facility. The nutritious meal, wellness check, and caring contact help them cope with three of the biggest threats of aging: hunger, isolation, and loss of independence.
Meals on Wheels serves 1,700 seniors through the home delivered meal program, and several hundred seniors through the congregate meal programs and operates in 23 counties. POSITION SUMMARY The Development Director for Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa is responsible for all development initiatives for the organization. Responsibilities include planning and implementing a comprehensive fund development plan for the organization, as well as managing activities and staff related to donor relations, grant writing and reporting, special events, and donor tracking and acknowledgments.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years' experience in fundraising and management. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In conjunction with the CEO, create and implement an annual development plan and strategy for operations, programs, and capital programs. Cultivate a portfolio of donors including major gifts prospects, and existing donors and funding sources while identifying and cultivating prospective donors, including meetings, tours, and other stewardship activities.
Lead the development team to develop, manage, and evaluate all phases of the fundraising program including: annual giving, donor solicitations, direct mail, special events, capital campaigns, foundation/grant requests, and planned giving. Manage the development staff team utilizing performance goals and standards with measurable outcomes and provide feedback regarding results to goal through monthly feedback sessions and yearly performance evaluations. Maintain dashboards and KPIs to keep the Board and leadership team abreast of Development performance and goals.
Review and edit grant proposals and applications to foundations, corporations, and civic organizations. Maintain and manage donor database, including gift processing, acknowledgments, and reporting, and ensure that they are reconciled with accounting records. Oversee and manage all aspects of special event planning and execution including sponsorships, timeline, budget, and volunteers.
Lead the development of fundraising materials including the annual report, appeals, presentations, e-newsletter, and other development collateral. Prepare the annual fund development budget and work closely with Finance on monthly variances. Maintain positive and professional relationships with donors, corporations volunteers, staff, and board members.
QUALIFICATIONS: A passion for serving the community. Bachelor's degree with five years of experience in fundraising, management, special events, and grant writing. Skilled in networking and building connections to benefit MOWMT.
Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task to meet deadlines, self-starter and team player. Familiarity and understanding of non-profit organizations' perspectives in fiscal development. Humility, sense of humor, and desire to learn, excel, and make a difference.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Under normal conditions, work is in an office and warehouse setting. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds. This is a full time position
