Summary The director is responsible for leading the firm’s quantitative research and analysis services. In this
hands-on leadership position, you will manage a team of Data scientists and provide technical expertise in designing and leading economic analyses; performing high-level quantitative analysis; researching, analyzing, and writing reports and strategy documents related to local, state, and national policy issues; establishing and implementing processes for data quality assurance across the firm; and guiding staff in translating data to practical information for our clients.
Essential Duties
Possesses technical expertise in input-output models for economic impact and contribution analyses, data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), statistical analysis (including descriptive analytics, inferential statistics, and hypothesis testing), data cleaning, and at least one programming or database language (e.g., Python, R, SQL)

Understands the intersection of Data analytics and public policy research; is knowledgeable in current and future policies, trends, and information affecting the firm’s delivery of Data services; is adept at making decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information
Communication
Is able to translate complex data into easily understandable concepts; communicates results to project managers and clients in an insightful and engaging manner; can synthesize complex information for a variety of audiences
Project Management
Can organize people and activities, understands how to develop work into efficient workflow, anticipates opportunities for synergy and integration in project execution, demonstrates broad knowledge and perspective, utilizes project resources in an efficient and effective manner to keep projects on task and budget

Essential Duties
- Leads a team of Data scientists in the provision of Data services, overseeing team performance and ensuring the firm’s capabilities align with client needs
- Serves as the firm’s Data Science expert, providing research expertise, analyses, and interpretation of complex market and economic issues for staff and clients
- Collaborates with project managers and other team members to scope and budget projects, including assessing available and needed data and determining appropriate methodologies and tools
- Develops and implements strategies to ensure data quality control and assurance, in collaboration with firm leaders and project managers
- Leads economic impact and contribution analyses, including designing models and developing reports in collaboration with consulting staff
- Mentors and guides data scientists and other team members in data methods resulting in high-quality, accurate project deliverables completed on time and on budget
- Conducts, translates, and analyzes public policy research using mathematical and statistical methods to investigate, analyze, and interpret data across policy content areas
- Maintains the firm’s data analytics and visualization software and subscription platforms, managing license usage, training staff, and staying informed on the latest tools to best serve our clients
- Develops systems and tools for efficiency and efficacy related to data services provided by the firm
- Collaborates and communicates well with staff and clients in a fast-paced environment with diverse people and projects, fostering a supportive, creative working environment for all PSC colleagues
- Demonstrates initiative, critical thinking, and sound judgment to generate ideas, work approaches, presentation of information, and issue resolution
- Manages workload effectively while engaged in multiple projects concurrently with high accuracy and attention to detail, seeking clarification when appropriate

Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in economics, finance, statistics, public policy or a related quantitative filed is required; a master's degree in economics, finance, statistics, public policy, or another relevant field is preferred
- A minimum of eight years of relevant work experience and two years of experience leading a team is required
- Advanced proficiency in economic impact and contribution analyses (using IMPLAN, REMI or similar modes with multipliers) and data visualization (using tools such as Tableau)
- Advanced-level competency with Excel and significant experience with a statistical software such as SPSS, Stata, SAS or similar tools
- Skills in survey development and analysis or labor market analysis required
- Salary range: $148,400 – 175,000
