Position Summary
Saltchuk is looking for an expert pilot to lead our best-in-class Corporate Flight department through an exciting transition from a Falcon 2000EX EASy to a new Gulfstream G500 aircraft being delivered in 2024.   As the Director of Corporate Flight, Chief Pilot, and Safety Officer, you will manage a team responsible for our corporate aircraft's maintenance and safe, reliable operation. As an IS-BAO-certified operator, upholding this standard is essential. We value leaders who have integrity and ethics, practice open communication, and encourage a positive team environment.
Job Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to the flight and maintenance team to ensure safety, performance, and excellent customer service for the company, shareholders, and guests.
  • When acting as the pilot-in-command, supervise the second-in-command to ensure smooth and efficient aircraft operation.
  • Prepare flight plans, study route weather and airport conditions, and ensure aircraft airworthiness through maintenance and preflight inspections.
  • Conduct flights safely and prudently, following company policies, Federal Aviation Administration regulations, and Department of Homeland Security regulations.
  • Advise management on the status and requirements for aircraft and other equipment related to department needs and goals.
  • Maintain an operations procedures manual and ensure personnel follow the manual, appropriate regulations, and company policies.
  • Follow safety and security procedures to protect our aircraft, facilities, and employees, including considerations for severe weather conditions.
  • Stay informed on the latest developments within the business aviation community, including FARs and other regulations affecting operations at federal, state, local, and foreign levels.
  • Ensure that the aircraft is clean and fully prepared for flight, with provisions on board for the safety and comfort of passengers.
  • Ensure accurate aircraft fueling, weight and balance, and performance calculations meet the FARs, using checklists as needed.
  • Make decisions to start, delay, cancel flights, or deviate from the planned route or destination when operating conditions when required.
  • Prepare and supervise annual operating budgets, including expenses and capital expenditures.
  • Coordinate flight operations and maintenance activities to align with the air transportation needs of the company.
  • Evaluate department personnel to ensure outstanding performance and provide training for initial, recurrent, and upgrade requirements.
  • Collaborate with various departments at Saltchuk's corporate home office to support your team, operations, and overall business needs.
Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a Director of a privately owned Corporate Flight department, managing a team of aviation professionals preferred.
  • Prior experience demonstrating safety leadership, implementing pro-active safety measures and a culture of continuous safety improvements desired.   
  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with Fixed Wing Multi-Engine and Instrument Rating.
  • New Gulfstream 500 experience or experience flying Gulfstreams highly preferred.  Prior experience and type rated for the Dassault Falcon 2000EX EASy with FAA-approved Type Rating a plus or recurrent training within the last 12 Months and/or a GVII rating.
  • 5000+ Hours Total Flight Time, 3000+ Hours Pilot in Command, 2000+ Hours Jet, 1000+ Hours in Type.
  • Preference will be given to local candidates with Falcon/Gulfstream or similar aircraft-size experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree and Corporate Aviation Experience preferred.
  • IS-BAO operations and audit experience preferred.
  • CAM Certification and Safety Certifications are a plus. 
Salary & Benefits

  • Starting base salary range $260,000 to $300,000, plus bonus.
  • We practice generous 401(k) company contributions to help you save for your future. Match of 4% + an additional 3% Company Discretionary contribution.
