Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement, the Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations (DCFR) will build and strengthen relationships with corporations, community and family foundations, and the broader community to secure philanthropic support for the University.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS All Lakeland University staff members are expected to:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Manage a portfolio of primary prospects (approximately 125)
  • Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle:
    • Initiate contacts with potential leadership and major gift donors.
    • Develop cultivation strategies.
    • Move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure, tracking stages of the relationship in the University's database.
    • Make solicitations.
    • Provide stewardship to donors.
    • Adhere to the highest ethical standards and convey sensitivity to needs of donors.
  • Work collaboratively with advancement team and all members of the University community.
  • Focus on securing support for a set of priorities that are communicated by the president and administration.
  • Ability to match a donor's passion and interest with the needs of the University.
  • Conduct prospect research as needed.

SPECIALIZED SKILLS

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education or experience required.
  • Five years of successful experience in corporate fundraising, with experience in higher education preferred.
  • Ability to understand the needs and interests of existing and potential donors in order to develop relationships between them and the University.
  • Interest in all aspects of education and a dedication to promoting the University's fundraising priorities through developing excellent relationships with faculty, administration, trustees, volunteers and the advancement office team.
  • Successful experience in making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignments.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk;
  • No or very limited physical effort required;
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment;
  • Occasional nights and weekends are required;
  • Travel will be expected.
