We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Compliance who will be responsible for ensuring that our organization adheres to all legal standards and in-house policies.
Responsibilities:
As the Director of Compliance, your key responsibilities will include:
1. Developing and implementing an effective compliance program.
2. Proactively auditing processes, practices, and documents to identify weaknesses.
3. Evaluating business activities to assess compliance risk.
4. Collaborating with internal teams to create control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and internal policies.
5. Enforcing regulations in all aspects and levels of business as well as provide guidance on compliance matters.
6. Collaborating with corporate counsel to monitor the enforcement of standards and regulations.
7. Assessing the business’s future ventures to identify possible compliance risks.
8. Reviewing the work of colleagues when necessary to identify compliance issues and provide advice or training.
9. Keeping abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control.
10. Preparing reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. A minimum of 5+ years of experience in a similar role within the legal industry.
2. Extensive knowledge of industry laws and regulations.
3. Proven experience with insurance regulatory compliance.
4. Significant experience in the life insurance industry.
5. A strong background in AML compliance.
6. Solid experience in conducting investigations.
7. Excellent knowledge of reporting procedures and record keeping.
8. A business acumen partnered with a dedication to legality.
9. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
10. Outstanding organizational and planning abilities.
11. Proficient in MS Office and comfortable with learning new software and systems.
12. A Bachelor’s degree in law, business administration, or a related field is required.
