Director of the Cotsen-Rosenbaum College Counseling Center
Wildwood School is an urban, coed, college-preparatory, K-12 school in West Los Angeles recognized for its innovative practices, progressive pedagogy, and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The school enrolls 728 students in three divisions on two campuses. Wildwood School's deep commitment to ongoing professional development feeds a renowned Outreach Center that has provided programming for public and independent school teachers, administrators, and trustees in over 16 states and eight countries. Wildwood School is also a founding member of the Mastery Transcript Consortium.
Wildwood School is currently seeking a dynamic Director of the Cotsen-Rosenbaum College Counseling Center who is interested in being a leader, both at Wildwood and more broadly, in navigating the dynamic landscape of College admissions in the coming years. The director reports to the associate head of school and supervises the college counselor/assistant director.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • staying current with evolving trends, laws, and a changing college landscape, leading or participating in related efforts to coordinate upper school programming;
  • assuming responsibility for all aspects of the college selection, testing and test-preparation, application, and admissions process;
  • reviewing and ensuring students' pathway to graduation by reviewing students' course enrollments and transcripts of courses completed over the summer for credit;
  • evaluating transcripts for prospective students, especially those enrolling in 10th grade or above;
  • coordinating the program and calendar of all standardized testing for students;
  • writing detailed and specific recommendation letters for each student in their caseload, typically 30~ students per grade;
  • conducting individual and group sessions in all areas of College Counseling;
  • overseeing the writing of requested faculty and administrator recommendation letters for students applying to college;
  • maintaining an inviting, informative, and up-to-date College Center, including robust parent/guardian education programs;
  • overseeing visits to colleges and from college representatives;
  • reviewing, updating, and approving courses in the UC portal;
  • representing the school at relevant state and national conferences and workshops.

Core responsibilities of all Wildwood School administrators include:
  • actively participating in and contributing to the routine operations of the school;
  • assisting with the recruitment, retention, evaluation, and support of faculty;
  • designing and implementing professional development opportunities;
  • designing and implementing parent education programs; and
  • participating in the admissions and enrollment process, including supporting and serving on the admissions committee.

The ideal candidate will have significant College Counseling experience working with upper school aged students, their parents/guardians, and their teachers as well as a proven ability to work collaboratively with others to further the school's mission.
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of five years of experience working in College Counseling and/or admissions and enrollment at the college level. An undergraduate degree is required. Master's degree preferred.
Salary Range: $130,000-$180,000. The higher end of the range is reserved for those with decades of experience and/or advanced degrees.
