Position Summary:
The Director of Clinical Development supports and guides hospital Veterinarians throughout the company portfolio. This individual administers educational programming for doctors focused on interpersonal/leadership skills and facilitates clinical learning through partnership with industry leaders. The Director of Clinical Development consults with company and practice leaders maintaining the culture and individuality of company hospitals and local determination of medical protocols and operations. The Director of Clinical Development supervises Clinical Development team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities::- Work directly with VP of Operations calculating ROI on new initiatives/offerings and develop KPI’s to establish success of initiatives/offerings.
- Present career-stage professional development programming for veterinarians at company events
- Identify systemic education/training gaps among Medical Directors and Veterinarians, facilitate supplemental programming to improve knowledge, focusing on non-clinical skills
- Provide field support and mentorship for Medical Directors at hospitals
- Support Regional Operations Teams with doctor-related challenges
- Network with industry leaders to facilitate clinical education offerings for doctors and technicians
- Support programs with written copy for marketing materials, communicate with veterinary teams, and facilitate RACE approved events
- Present programming as needed at company events/conferences
- Generate written content for company publications
- Partner with recruiting/operations teams for onboarding/engagement for Medical Directors and Associate Veterinarians
- Represent company Veterinarians at industry events and conferences
- Maintain high level of veterinary knowledge via regular Continuing Education
- Oversee Clinical Development team members
- Adhere to company policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned, including special projects
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from American Veterinary Medical Association accredited veterinary school or its equivalent
- DVM degree from AVMA-accredited veterinary school or its equivalent
- Active veterinary license in good standing in minimum one state and ability to obtain licensure in other states as deemed necessary
- Clinical Practice experience 5+ years, Medical Director or equivalent experience strongly preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills: individual communications, writing, media creation, and public speaking
- Strong knowledge of practice leadership, operations, and management
- General understanding of financial metrics and decision-making within veterinary practices
- Remote work required, travel up to 40%
- Must be able to travel to clinics as needed, up to 40% of the time
- Must be licensed and able to operate motor vehicle and travel by automobile and by air
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time
- Must be able to exchange clear, accurate information with managers at remote locations using email and phone
- Occasionally moves equipment and supplies weighing up to 15 pounds
- Frequent keyboarding and use of computer for data entry
