Job description

A bit about us
We’re a venture-backed startup on a mission to change the future of hospitality and home. With properties in some of America’s most-loved cities, our unique platform allows buildings to blur the line between hotels and apartments. This all-in-one solution includes property operations, customer acquisitions, and the tech stack to operate with more flexibility than any other company in the market.
Our tech-enabled buildings create one-of-a-kind guest experiences and tremendous value in the underlying real estate. Whether guests are with us for a night, a year, or somewhere in between, these are more than just spaces to spend the night—they’re a place to call home.
Our property team members bring our business to life at each building, focusing on execution, along with resident and guest experience. Our non-property team members support property execution and the evolution of other areas within our platform.

The impact you'll have
As the Director of National Sales for Placemakr, you will assume a pivotal role in formulating and executing a strategic sales plan for corporate and business travel. Your primary responsibility is to foster B2B relationships to drive corporate travel into the Placemakr portfolio. As a team leader, you will support your team of sales managers to optimize revenue and net operating profit for our hotel properties. Your leadership and expertise will be critical in driving the success and profitability of our establishments. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a proven track record in sales management, and a deep understanding of the hospitality landscape.

What you'll do

  • Build out Placemakr’s business travel strategy by creating a target list of suppliers and direct clients, then organize your team around top opportunities including account management and sourcing new business travel accounts.
  • Manage and grow existing TMC relationships by tracking performance and involvement and creating monthly reporting for clients and sales leaders.
  • Create a collaborative team environment to ensure top-notch service to current and potential clients.
  • Identify and cultivate new partnerships, including BT, Group, and extended stay platforms, to expand our client base.
  • Own all BT, consortia's RFPs, and ensure timely and accurate responses.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Management to establish competitive rates and commission structures.
  • Provide guidance to the team on individual deals and assist in closing must-win deals.
  • Evaluate revenue growth opportunities and develop strategies to increase market share.
  • Drive individual and team sales efforts to meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales goals.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences and events such as CHPA, GBTA, ERC, BTN, and AMEXGBT to build and maintain business relationships.
  • Join relevant boards and associations to network with target buyers and stay informed about industry trends and opportunities.
  • Ensure current accounts are informed of new properties entering the market and actively participate in pre-opening sales activities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with top national and local accounts to drive revenue growth.
  • Coordinate involvement of new properties in events and conferences at least three months in advance to secure long-term revenue.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

What it takes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related field preferred, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree
  • 8+ years of sales experience
  • Deep understanding of CRM systems (we use HubSpot!) and best practices.
  • Ability to travel as needed to attend conferences and industry events.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, including a deep understanding of PowerPoint and Excel
  • Proven experience leading a high-performing, metric-driven sales team.
  • Demonstrated experience with setting sales goals that support and align with overall business strategy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of hospitality market trends and competitors, or a demonstrated ability to quickly learn.
  • You are results-oriented and have strong analytical skills.
  • You have demonstrated a consistent track record of curating experiences and working with teams that promote retention, loyalty, and revenue growth.
  • You cultivate, manage and own high-level relationships and leverage them to address competing priorities.
  • You are a hands-on leader who supports your team and takes an active role in growing and developing them.
  • You embody our Community Norms. You Own It. You Make It Better. You Treat People Right.
