Director, Labor & Employment Counsel

What you'll do on a typical day:

• Provide daily counseling on a broad array of employment-related issues including recruitment and hiring, restrictive covenants, discrimination/harassment/retaliation, leaves of absence, reasonable accommodations, wage/hour, investigations, performance management/discipline, terminations, reorganizations, reductions in force, WARN, diversity and inclusion, workplace safety, executive compensation, immigration, and international assignments
• Manage single plaintiff and class litigation, administrative charges, and attorney demand letters in partnership with external counsel
• Conduct WARN assessments in partnership with external counsel; independently draft separation agreements and OWBPA disclosures
• Provide legal support in connection with traditional labor matters including organizing campaigns and unfair labor practice charges
• Draft, interpret and enforce employment, separation, non-competition, confidentiality and consulting agreements
• Create, conduct and implement training and education for HR and business partners on a variety of labor and employment-related topics

What you need to succeed at GXO:
At a minimum, you'll need:

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• 7+ years of substantive and significant labor and Employment Counseling on all aspects of the employment relationship, as well as litigation experience
• Flexible, proactive, team-oriented individual with highly effective collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to quickly, effectively, and clearly provide strategic, business-focused advice and counsel in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with shifting priorities
• Ability to think strategically, work independently, make recommendations for process improvement, and drive matters to favorable outcomes
• Ability and desire to work with all levels of HR and business partners
• Supervisory and management skills with the ability to oversee projects delegated to in-house legal staff and outside counsel
• Experience with Windows applications and Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)

It'd be great if you also have:

• 2+ years in-house experience
• Mix of substantive law firm and in-house, hands-on labor and employment experience
• Familiarity with Serengeti Tracker
