Job description

The Director of Inpatient Services provides direction and leadership to the inpatient units and related ancillary services, including respiratory care, sleep health, neurodiagnostic, and nutrition services. This newly created position ensures the coordinated delivery of safe, efficient, effective, and timely care to patients and families being served by Gillette Children's and reports to the VP of Hospital Operations & Nurse Executive.
Purpose of Position
This position exists to provide the direction and leadership of inpatient units and related ancillary services, including respiratory care, sleep health, neurodiagnostics, and nutrition services; and ensures the coordinated delivery of safe, efficient, effective, and timely care to patients and families being served on the inpatient units at Gillette. Responsibilities include workforce management, the development of department policies and procedures to meet all federal, state, and regulatory requirements, and advancing performance through the monitoring and analysis of core financial, quality, and safety metrics.
Serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in highly coordinated teams. Gillette Children's organizes care around each patient's condition which requires staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities. The Director of Inpatient Services directs the operations of multiple inpatient departments to align with the organization's strategy, consistent with Gillette's mission, vision, and values, to ensure effective service delivery and safe and efficient operations.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary range for this opportunity is $127,067.20 to $ 190,590.40 with a median salary of $ 158,828.80. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience and internal equity. Salary is just one component of the compensation package for employees. Qualifications
Required

  • Current Registered nurse licensure to practice nursing in Minnesota.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a hospital inpatient setting with a minimum of 3 years in a managerial leadership role

  • Pediatric healthcare experience

Preferred
  • Project management leadership experience
  • Certification in pediatric nursing or leadership
  • Graduate degree in nursing or related healthcare field

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate significant and complex process improvement initiatives involving several stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with physicians and clinical providers.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal & communication skills related to patients, families, coworkers, nurses, physicians, and strong customer service skills.

  • Strong knowledge, skills, and experience in communicating with diverse groups, negotiating complex issues and in maintaining professional relationships.

  • Financial and budget management experience; ability to analyze trends and changes in healthcare environment.
  • Management of human resources experience, including recruiting and retention, staffing and performance management.
