Are you skilled in understanding benefits programs, interpreting data, and building and implementing recommendations?
We are looking for a Director, Financial Benefits to join our team! The Total Rewards/Employee Benefits Center of Expertise, within Human Resources, is responsible for the design, implementation and delivery of the company's U.S. employee benefit plans and programs. The employee population includes our U.S. based employees, retirees and deferred vested pensioners. Plans and programs encompass a broad array of benefits and programs, including healthcare, personal protection, absence, pension and savings, and wellbeing.
Reporting to the Lead of Global Benefits Strategy & Design, the Director, Financial Benefits is responsible for ensuring U.S. financial benefit programs (for example, savings, pension, life insurance, disability insurance and absence management programs) are competitive, cost effective and meet quality standards, handling vendor contracts, ensuring plans follow legislative and regulatory updates and developing approach and delivery for portions of Total Rewards strategy, Employee Benefits communication strategy and benefits pricing. In addition, the role is responsible for providing guidance and support to our international businesses on financial benefit programs, as needed.
The current Employee Work Arrangement for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.
What you can expect:

  • Ensure benefit programs are competitive, cost effective and meet quality standards. Gather and analyze external data and industry trends, conduct a financial impact assessment, build a project plan, and ensure the design follows legislative and regulatory updates
  • Understand, analyze, and amend vendor contracts in place, gather feedback from the delivery team, conduct RFPs and obtain intelligence from vendors.
  • Create implementation plan, develop materials for delivery team; develop and/or vet, validate and approve communications; develop and/or review education materials; provide support to delivery team on plan interpretation and sophisticated calculations.
  • Understand current cost of benefits and benefits experience; conduct rate forecasting and develop rates for the following year; gather and analyze benchmark data on rates and cost-sharing; and create price tags. Analyze actual versus forecasted spend and benchmark data collection and analysis for programs.
  • Work with internal and external partners regarding pension valuations and funding strategies.
  • In support of the Lead - Global Benefits Strategy & Design assist in the development of approach and delivery mechanisms for the Total Rewards education strategy, join the merger and acquisition (M&A) deal teams (recommending what should happen to target plans, deciding how new employees fit into Prudential plans and developing communications strategy for M&A benefits requirements); and assist in the development of strategies to drive the health of the employee population.

What you'll need:
  • 8 years' proven experience related to retirement and insurance benefits with financial, human resources and strong business knowledge
  • Experience in developing and implementing a corporate benefit strategy with an affinity for innovative benefits program development
  • Experience from a Fortune 500 company and highly matrix work environment
  • Strong analytical skills to assimilate disparate data sets into cohesive integrated reports/presentations; able to draw connections from data to identify larger optimization opportunities.
  • Thorough understanding of employee benefits industry trends and practices
  • Ability to exercise discretion in decision making and judgment
  • Proven track record to partner across the organization and establish relationships using collaboration and influencing skills

It'd be a plus if you had:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college / university
  • Actuarial background
  • Strong consultative expertise; Management consulting desirable
  • CEBS certification

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $144,500.00 to $195,500.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
