Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) is one of the most technically advanced designers and manufacturers of lightweight composite aerospace structures, subassemblies and components. For more than 50 years, AEC has innovated advanced composite solutions for defense and commercial industries in applications from large commercial transports to fighter jets and commercial and military rotorcraft.
Our composite design and fabrication expertise can be found on many commercial platforms such as Boeing's 7-series family, the Airbus A380 aircraft as well as Sikorsky S-76 helicopter. For defense programs, AEC provides a wide range of products including complete structural assemblies, flight critical components, primary and secondary structural elements for platforms such as the F-35 Lightning II, the CH-53K Heavy-lift Helicopter and the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM).

This position leads the financial analysis and reporting of the SLC Site and reports to the Director of Operations Finance, AEC and has responsibilities in these areas:

  • Serve as business partner and source of insightful, innovative business guidance and counsel to the VP/GM of SLC and the Director of Operations Finance, AEC.
  • Lead the development and execution of the Finance strategy required to enable SLC and AEC to achieve business objectives.
  • Lead the segment's annual operating plan, monthly forecast, and multi-year financial forecast processes.
  • Play a key role in support of new business development, including financial projections.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely completion of monthly financial statements, in accordance with the Company's accounting manual.
  • Lead the staff and business processes that support the collection, organization, analysis and reporting of the financial information required for sound decision making by AEC's management.

  • Drive SLC Finance culture that attracts, develops and retains high performing professionals and encourages and rewards application of Finance best practices to enhance customer satisfaction and shareholder value.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting of high-integrity financial information for internal and external reporting purposes; supervise the maintenance and development of financial processes that are scalable for organic and acquisitive growth.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with site leadership across all departments to provide actionable analysis to drive improved financial cost controls and outcomes.
  • Lead SLC's budgeting and forecasting processes. Work with team to monitor and analyze operating results against budgets and proactively identify, report and resolve any variances.
  • Manage bid and proposal financial support activities.
  • Lead and support operational initiatives such as cost reduction, plant optimization, LEAN business activities, improvement of project management practices, customer reporting requirements, profitability and working capital improvement.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, philosophy, and culture of the Company and ensure that the SLC Finance organization operates consistently with these organizational values.

 

Supervisory responsibility:

  • Supervisors are responsible for overseeing their work group including but not limited to: formal 15 years or more of successful, steadily broadening Finance leadership experience culminating in a senior role within an aerospace manufacturing company or business unit with at least $100 million in annual sales.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, accounting closing and reporting procedures, long term contract accounting and Finance and Accounting systems best practices.
  • Demonstrated skills in management reporting and financial analytics.
  • Finance and accounting experience within public accounting firms and/or publicly held companies is strongly preferred, as is Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance, SEC reporting and disclosure exposure and significant government contracting compliance experience.
  • Superior written and verbal communications and presentation skills, compelling executive presence and the ability to inspire trust and confidence and to lead by example through extraordinary personal energy and a strong work ethic.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. SAP or major ERP system experience are preferred.
  • Passion to consistently deliver better-than-expected results and ability to inspire similar commitment in peers, subordinates and superiors.
  • Determination and persistence in the face of organizational or individual resistance, resource limitations, competing priorities, or other constraints.

Working Conditions:

Office environment, duties performed indoors, moderate to quiet noise and comfortable temperatures. Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental condition levels. Ability to work 24/7 schedule and be available as business situations require. Some may be able to do part of their work remotely. Travel may be required.

 

Physical requirements:

Occasionally positions self to move an office item >10 lbs.

Frequently move about the production floor and office area to attend meetings or trainings

Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 75% of the time

Frequently operates a computer, enters data into systems, verifies information, etc...

  • Undergraduate degree required; MBA/CPA preferred
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of financial management experience
  • A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing/production business.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the capabilities of transaction & reporting systems
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills with a demonstrated ability to work across functions and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work without direct supervision, and efficiently manage tasks and time
