The Director, Contracts & Pricing Strategy, Nephrology is a key member of the U.S. Value & Access (USV&A) organization and the General Medicine Coverage & Pricing Leadership Team. This individual leads quantitative and qualitative analyses with their direct reports to deliver the cross-segment provider and payer pricing and contracting strategy across Amgen’s Nephrology portfolio (Epogen, Aranesp, Parsabiv, Sensipar).
In this dynamic and fast-paced environment, the Director is highly visible with General Medicine Business Unit leadership including direct customer engagement with Dialysis provider customers for contract negotiations. The Director works cross-functionally across Nephrology Brand Marketing and Nephrology Sales, Oncology Sales, Government Affairs, Market Access, Contract Development, Trade & Distribution, Finance, Accounting, Legal and Regulatory. The Director also ensures Nephrology and Oncology Key Accounts teams are equipped with reimbursement, cost, and policy resources. Finally, the Director is accountable for working with policy, government pricing, and finance teams to lead the latest estimated discount rate (LEDR) process, quarterly business reviews and long-range scenarios planning as well as modeling of policy, reimbursement and contracting scenario impact on provider dynamics and sales volume goals.
Lead pricing, provider, and payer contracting strategies for presentation to executive leadership teams
Develop negotiation strategy for customer engagements in collaboration with Key Accounts teams and Brand leadership
Ensure alignment in LRS strategy and execution of the plan with cross-functional teams including Brand, Key Accounts, Market Access, Medical, Trade, and Policy
Support bi-annual strategic LRS/brand planning and quarterly business reviews, inclusive of LEDR reporting
Collaborate with Brand and KAM leadership to develop cost, reimbursement and policy tools/messaging, semester plan of action, semester meeting content/training and contracting goals
Model policy, reimbursement and contracting scenario impact on provider dynamics and sales volume goals
Manage the coverage and Pricing budget

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 4 years of marketing, sales management and/or payer experience
Or
Master’s degree and 7 years of marketing, sales management and/or payer experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of marketing, sales management and/or payer experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in Contracts and Pricing with understanding of Average Selling Price (ASP) and impact on profitability
Solid understanding of the US health care system with a focus in formulary decision makers within the dialysis, oncology, hospital, or medical benefit space (inclusive of GPOs), and with specific interest in the interactions between Government and health care
Nephrology, Oncology, hospital, or buy-and-bill account management, marketing or sales experience
Previous experience or skill sets in building financial models and/or working with/analyzing data from different sources
Exceptional written/oral communication skills and executive presence across functions and across different levels of leadership
Strong leadership skills with direct reports and demonstrated ability to influence a variety of cross-functional experts in a highly matrixed environment
Command of complexity and ambiguity; ability to see the big picture; ability to collect, digest and assemble information to enable relevant business analyses and inform executive decision-making
MBA or other master’s degree

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
