Capital Power Corporation is currently seeking an innovative and dynamic individual to join our Commercial USA team!
Reporting Directly to the Vice President, Head of USA (Commercial), as the Director, Commercial (US) you will carry comprehensive accountability for the financial (EBITDA) and non-financial aspects of our operational assets. This encompasses the careful execution of Capital Power's corporate strategy.
You will contribute to our team by

• Leading highly complex projects, Commercial Operation Date (COD) and beyond.
• Achieving annual value addition targets,
• Leading high-impact projects, while working closely with the corresponding Project Sponsor, to meet objectives while adhering to the corporate policy.
• Providing strategic guidance, review, and support to direct reports across specific projects, both new and ongoing.
• Offering commercial expertise and ensuring accountabilities for all regulatory aspects.
• Acting as the commercial lead and Subject Matter Expert (SME) on issues that may arise or present future value opportunities for the US assets. This may include making recommendations to the Executive Team.
• Building and cultivating strong relationships within our organization and the industry at large.
• Supporting the development of offer strategies for the assets that maximize market opportunity while managing contract risk.
• Assuming responsibility for EBITDA reporting and drives initiatives aimed at maximizing EBITDA within the US markets.
• Evaluating the commercial viability of business opportunities at the US assets.
• Acting as the commercial subject matter expert for Business Development opportunities for acquisitions and new builds in the US.
• Engaging in the negotiation of commercial agreements, encompassing PPAs and Joint Venture partnerships.
• Overseeing the monitoring and assessment of the external environment, guiding subject matter experts (SMEs) to execute plans addressing both threats and opportunities affecting assets and the wider organization.
• Encouraging collaborative relationships within all departments and extending these relationships to senior-level external counterparts, regulators, and external resources, such as consultants or experts.
• Taking the lead in due diligence and associated activities pertaining to our initiatives designed to help the organization reach its growth objectives.
• Assuming the role of a mentor and outstanding leader, actively involved in the development, training, mentoring, and guidance of employees both within the department and across the organization.

What you will bring to the role
Education

• Undergraduate degree in engineering, commerce, economics, or related field.
• MBA or CFA would be considered an asset.

Experience:

• Minimum 10-15 years of comprehensive experience in a related role; preferably in electricity or other related industries.
• Background in asset management, business development, trading, operations, or financial analysis and risk management.
• Strong understanding of the electricity markets in the US.

Technical & Social Process Skills:

• Leadership of high preforming team, inclusive of budget and employee performance management.
• Project Management for highly sophisticated projects with diverse Subject Matter Experts.
• Leadership of diverse Subject Matter Experts for projects.
• Demonstrated creative execution and adaptive to change for problem solving multi-disciplinary, issues.

Working Conditions:

• Regular business hours, with occasional extended hours and/or tasks completed remotely.
• Hybrid Work
• Some travel to plant sites, other offices, or conferences as needed.
• Location: Phoenix, AZ

Additional Details
The pay range for this position is $147,060 to $169,936. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications and prior relevant experience.
This position is eligible for health care benefits, retirement benefits, paid time off, and annual bonus.
This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
As this is a safety sensitive position, clearance of a pre-employment drug test is required.
