Director - Athletics

Basic Function: Provide visionary leadership, management, and administration of the College's athletics program working to achieve programs of quality, athletic competitiveness, and compliance with NJCAA, ICCAC, and federal regulations such as Title IX. Lead department strategic planning, and fundraising. Promote the athletic program to the internal and external community, alumni, friends of the College, and donors. Work collaboratively with others to support and advocate for student-athletes' athletic, academic, and mental health welfare. Additional assignments in coaching or instruction depending on background and experience. Responsible for overseeing the Fitness Center.
Salary & Benefits: Salary of $70,000 - $88,000 based on experience. Benefits package includes Blue Cross/Blue Shield health insurance; eye care, dental, life and disability insurance; paid vacation and sick leave; a choice of IPERS or TIAA retirement plans; and a variety of additional optional benefits.
Qualifications
Required: A baccalaureate degree is required with experience as head coach in collegiate athletes. Excellent interpersonal, oral, written, and leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with all constituents.
Preferred: A master's degree with college-level athletics administration knowledge and experience in fundraising, budgeting, and game day management.
Successful experience in supervision, fundraising, budgeting, compliance and game day management. Possess technology skills appropriate for the position.
Responsibilities:
Hire, supervise, and evaluate coaches for all intercollegiate athletic programs.
With coaches, coordinate game schedules (along with coaches) for all conference and non-conference games.
Plan and coordinate all home games by working with Facilities Management, student workers, outside contractors, game officials, and others.
Provide supervision for all home games including hospitality for opposing team, crowd control, and concessions.
Organize, develop, and lead fundraising efforts for facility improvements and athletic scholarships.
Schedule and supervise facility usage including the Gymnasium and Fitness Center.
Hire, supervise, and evaluate Fitness Center employees.
Determine athletic eligibility for all new, returning, and transfer student athletes.
Assist coaches with monitoring of student athletes related to academic achievement and on-campus living.
Coordinate the purchase of athletic equipment and maintain the inventory.
Prepare and supervise athletic budget.
Act as department liaison with local media.
Maintain department compliance with all NJCAA, ICCAC, federal and institutional rules and regulations.
Coordinate athletic student services, including: student-athlete orientation and Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC).
Administer student-athlete drug testing program.
Perform in a manner which strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the College, including opportunities for student recruitment.
