We are currently hiring Direct Support Professionals to work within our group homes located throughout the north shore. Direct Support Professionals help the individuals we serve live inclusive and independent lives in their homes and community.
We are looking for a Direct Support Professional (Skills Trainer) in our Independent Living Program in Salem!
Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 11:00am- 7:00pm
Pay Rate: $18.00/hr or $20 if MAP trained.
**For a limited time, full time hires may qualify for $600 sign-on bonus**
Job Summary:Our independent living program is seeking a motivated individual to help promote skill building and increased independence. Residents enjoy apartment style living on the North Shore, very close to beaches, parks, shops, and delicious restaurants! They love to go on outings where they can incorporate travel training and utilize public transportation. As a Skills Trainer, you will provide one-on-one support to our residents to teach valuable skills such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting. A strong desire to have fun and participate in community events anywhere from Salem to Gloucester is a must!
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide Direct Care and support the clinical and social needs of the individuals receiving services.
- Document accurately and thoroughly including in Inter-Team Communication Logs, Health Records, Daily Data Books and Fire Drill Logs as outlined in Northeast Arc Policy and Procedures
- Facilitate meaningful community experiences for each individual that fosters skill acquisition, relationship building and independence.
- Serve as a role model for individuals and assist in developing social skills.
- Provide opportunities for individuals to have choices, whenever possible
- Facilitate meaningful community experiences for each individual that fosters skill acquisition, relationship building and independence.
- Provide hands-on support at the home, including individualized supports in transferring, bathing and grooming, and following specific dining protocols and treatments.
- Administer medications according to Northeast Arc Policies and Procedures and MAPs Regulations. Support Drs appointments, ER and hospital visits and contact on-call nursing appropriately.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Valid drivers license required for most positions
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, stand for periods of time, bend, push wheelchairs, provide physical intervention as necessary
